I have been neglecting my babies and look what happened!!
I missed it blooming. Found this, this morning...... It should have been transplanted a long time ago!!
I am a bad Brug MOM
Nothing wrong with that. Does it have a name? Looks like it has some pink/peach color in it?
I have nothing blooming in the brug line! Had better be a good summer. I'm ready!
It is a cutting of tropical sunset, and smells delightful!!
It looks like it thinks you are a great brug Mom, Amanda!
Are you sure that is Tropical Sunset?

well i thought it was I will have to see how it blooms once transplanted. the blooms on the moma was bigger like in the picture on your link, It has been deprived of water and was very wilted when i found it I gave it a drink, and came back in an hour to snap a picture, like i said a very bad moma!!
Edited to say, I bought the moma plant on ebay , from and unknown seller last year, and it very well could be tagged wrong. i will not trade this as tropical sunset but put unknown on it. like someone said earlier that is how the genes get contaminated and misrepresented.

Still very pretty! The tube coming from the calyx just looks wrong. I only bought brugs from ebay twice actually, and was so taken advantage of!
Well, you have shamed me to go outside and get watering and transplanting. We are having a heat wave here and my poor brugs are wilting as we speak!
I felt so ashamed when i went in my Gh and found this bloom and it was sooo wilted, I am the same way, I have bought from ebay before i found this place and BGI and was so taken advantage of. except by one ebayer selling brugs they were legit. I got pinks for yellows and yellows for pinks. and some that just will not bloom!! I have one that is a foot tall and has been like this for two years and will not grow!! I have fertilized it to death, it must be a minature!! LOL if it will ever bloom i might can say it is a minature!!
Bet it will be a great brug when it grows up, no matter what the name might be. At least you have a bloom. I have a few buds, but it will be a month before they open.
Amanda, no matter what it is, it's pretty. You really need to get up to Montgomery in May to raid my yard.
I will hummer, I may need to borrow a few of your trees in september for my mothers outside wedding.
Everything should be in full bloom then. You would be most welcome to borrow them. Where is the wedding going to be?
Looks pretty healthy and happy to me Amanda.
The wedding is going to be at my moms house out side she has a great big cover deck. it will be at dark by candle light!so i thought Brugs would be so nice then!! I am doing alot of the planning , and just found out! and she ask me to be her matron of honor!! I am so honored, too. she is 58 years young, and my father pasted away in june of 2000, so i am happy for her!
dear gussie, it looks like you live in a jungle!! Beautiful bloom you got there. Please tell us the name of the legitimate brug seller on ebay so we know who to look for and who to avoid.
If you don't think that is bad , then you won't this, but now this is not mine! It is my MIL's and i said i wasn't planting anything else for her lazy tale!!I told her when she does plant it it won't bloom any more LOL
Better thing is i asked her this: how was she going to get it out of that jug? with all those roots? I guess she wasn't thinking this fall when she stuck those two cuttings in there .

That's funny, a hammer comes to mind ............lol
How about a glass cutter, just to remove the bottle neck at the top! or just pull it out...not all of the roots will be damaged and I would think it would grow if placed in nice fertile soil!
it is plastic LOL
OH !!! That should be easy to cut then!
Amanda, in your 1st pic, what in the world are you trying to root in those bowls of grits. Looks like you put a good bit of butter or cheese in them.
funny man that is snowball trees, and lady banks roses
yours are rooted!!
Thank you.
Amanda, I've never tried to root anything in Grits and with butter even. LOL Pretty good, Hummer.
I have not myself, but hey, if it works for Amanda then it may just work for anyone. I've been told that fire ants can be killed by putting grits on their mounds. Being a country boy, I like my grits. Those pots in Amanda's pic sure look enticing to me.
Theyjust a itty bit gritty, ya know, I aint eatin them. I got a pot from a lady in fla at the swap and her sand looke different, is there a certian place you can get sand packaged just for rooting?
When I saw the cuttings in the pots, I thought it was RW !!
what is RW? I am having a let me be dumb, morning....
rain water maybe?

Sand on some of the Maui beaches is black from volcano ash.
River sand looks dirty. Washed sand or playbox sand is whiter.
RW...is Rock Wool !!! That's OK, I never heard of it before last week. Now, I am growing in it! My stringbeans and zuchinni germinated in 3 days!!
Check out the posts on RW !! It seems great!
