Has anyone had any luck sowing brug seeds in the ground? Seems to me that would be sooo much easier.
And do i really need to peel all those boogers?

Sowing seeds
Don't bother to peel.As for the ground,Arlene does that and has success with it.I don't trust my good seeds to the ground though.
Lottsa luck! Sure couldn't do it here. Probably never see them again.
I have limited space,I have to be very selective on the crosses I grow out,so I tend to baby each and every one.
I have baby brugs coming up all over the gardens where I've tossed pods on the ground. I thought the pods were bad because they got too cold during the move, but the seeds were still good. Now I haven't a clue what the cross was!
Thanks yall. ill get some in the rockwool and then try a few in the ground also.
maybe theyll have a fighting chance in the ground, lol

LOL Susie, you're going to have lots of surprises when they bloom.
I started some seeds in RW yesterday for the first time ever...my RW just arrived a few hours earlier. After the inital hesitation to try something new, I found it to be such a quick and easy way to plant! Now, I have to stop checking and just wait and see what happens. I do have them on heat and under lights! So it should be pretty quick!
Be careful not to give them too much heat. I believe 68-72 is warm enough for germination. I know I cooked some seeds a couple of years ago.
I just put in a new bed that is a little on the shady side. Its a north facing, and it feels really cool there. I think thats where ill drop some of the seeds.
Hopefully it will work

Just tested the temperature of the rockwool that my seeds are in on the heater....88 degrees...I shut off the heat, I hope it is not too late.
I cooked some stringbean seeds a few days ago! I had set my containers right on top of the seedling heating pad. Does anyone know if I should have raised them off of it with a rack or towel or something?
I never use a heat mat anymore for brug seeds. Just normal house temps and for us that is right around 70-72. I guess I don't trust my heat mat enough to use it on special seeds. I hope your seeds will be okay.
I guess if I am going to use it, I should get a thermostat!
I do not use heat also. I hope you did not cook them!
Kell, brugie...I guess I will know in a couple of days if I cooked them! I sure hope not...but at least I have learned not to do it next time!
I did have hosta seeds on the mat & one came up, so maybe they aren't frying! But they were in planting mix, not RW which could make a difference too.
Jen you should be able to direct sow in your area, but i don't due to fungus nats.I will admit i did like cala and now i have seedlings every where and no clue what they are!! I have also decided seeds were not going to do anything , and started cuttings in that dirt later. and now i have seedlings poping up three months later, no clue now what they are so i will just have to wait and enjoy a unnamed bloom, or i give these as presents to people who could care less what it is except a angel trumpet, like family and friends and the ladies at church, with the right to photograph them when they bloom LOL
