Brug question

Grady, AL(Zone 8a)

This is my first year with brugs, their aroma puts ya' under some sorta spell ..... or their beauty ...
Ok, this may be a dumb question ... but if I don't ask I won't know :) Last fall Springsong was so wonderful and shared several cuttings and a few with roots. I planted one in the ground. It is coming back now with tons of foliage. Am I suppose to leave all the foliage? It has so many leaves sorta like my Hosta's.
Thanks,
~Tammy~

Tammy,
Mine are the same way..Some folks trim them up, but I don't..Last year mine all got well over 7 feet tall and had blooms galore..I don't baby mine either like a lot do.. They get the same treatment and watering as all my other gardening plants that are in the same bed..I fertilize in early spring and them later in our long summer.. Good luck..

Hey Tammy, I didn't know you were a bruggie, which ones do you have?

Grady, AL(Zone 8a)

The one in the ground is labeled Sav. Deep Pink, in pots are Butterfly, Solid Gold, Janet Reno, Charles Grimaldi, Frosty Pink (I think), versicolor (but not sure which one).
The rest I lost to spider mites :(

Butterflygal, I like to leave my leaves on for I believe they help the plant to grow faster. More leaves to make more energy.

You know Larkie, I have a huge yellow mutt on the side of my house that I planted 2 years ago. I probably have watered it 3 times in 2 years. I never fertilize it. It is already huge this year and in full flower. I will get a pic tomorrow. I only know it is in flower for it has a branch that has reached my dining room window and it has lots of flowers on it. I rarely go to that side of the house and my hose does not quite reach so it is pain to get it water.

Kell, you must have some great soil. That and great temps really make them do well for you. I'm sure you baby most of them though and they get good eats too.

Oh I do, Brugie. I baby them and spend all kinds of money on them. But sometimes I wonder when I use the cheapest fertilizer HD has and they flourish or when I look at the one on the side of the house that is totally ignored.

Though today I looked back there and it was wilted.....LOL. It was in the 90's, a record breaker. I didn't water it, so we will see if tomorrow it bounces back.
