Yellow Orange brug

Mesilla Park, NM

This is the first brug plant that I got about five years ago. I don't know what it is, and I finally put one of its cuttings in the ground last year and it froze, it is coming back. But this one is still in a pot.

Maybe later my ratio for blooms will get better. Now I have learned from you all to fertilize more (more than every three months..lol). They sure are making me suffer.. by giving me only one bloom at a time.

Thanks root. I can hardly wait to see a full house..lol.. we will see what this California heat does to them this year, it seems this one does alright in full sun, but it does fade the leaves some.

Gourd, I don't know what your humidity is like, but here in Houston, we have high heat (July & August often see over 100°F) and thick, thick humidity. Some brugs are a little more sensitive, but for the most part, they seem to do fine here. You shouldn't have a problem.

Most of mine get most sun/slight shade and graduating to heavier shade. I have a Dr. Seuss in the ground, though, that gets full sun and does great!

Are the leaves a yellowish green Gourd? A few of my yellows have these leaves and I do not like them. I rather have the deep green ones.

Yes, they are yellowish, on a couple of plants.. it is 101 degrees here in the shade today.. too hot .. I hate to see what the rest of the summer is going to be like. I should just stick to epies and cactus, this heat just fries everything. That bloom up there lasted one 1/2 days.. it wilted really bad yesterday, today it is just drying and limp.. (like me) ..lol.

I don't know how you take the heat. I sure couldn't. I hate the cold weather during the winter, but if we move south, we have to deal with a hotter summer than we already have and I don't know if I'm willing to do that. I hope you get a break with your weather. Maybe your brugs will do better toward fall when it cools some. The bloom is pretty on this one.

Don't know if this year I will be able to keep up with you all in growing brugs.. it is very difficult to grow many and keep them healthy (alive)..lol.

I got one of those three/four ft. pools that you set up, for the grandkids and the dogs too, it is just too hot for them.

Shirley, there are lots of wonderful places to live here in California, I just live in the wrong one.. Wish you could see San Diego, Encinitas, and everything near the water, it is wonderful.. and the weather is ideal. You just have to find out before hand what it is like. Also the properties are going sky high, and makes it harder to move to a good location..

I've been to SD and it was nice there, but so very expensive. I have a cousin who lives on the Missouri/Arkansas line on one of the lakes. I wouldn't mind living there. Some winter, but short enough that I could deal with it.

Give me a Greenhouse in Michigan any day,it was here today Gourd.
