would like to try my luck with hosta seeds
Hi Kathy,
The only Hosta seeds I have right now are 'Ginko Craig', and they come up like the parent, except all green without the white edging; fall will be a much better time for hosta seed harvesting.
I have great success germinating the seeds by winter-sowing them around January- they sprout when the season is right, around April here in zone 6/7.
They do not really require cold treatment though, and usually come up in about 21 days.
You may wish to post on the Hosta Forum, someone there may have seeds for you.
Hope this helps!
John
thanks john,
i might wait till fall then
