Pumpkin Color is tan, buff.
Pumpkin Shape is Oblong about 12 by 14 inches.
Pumpkin Size is 15 to 25 pounds.
As my wife would say, These are old fashion “eatin punkins”.
Check my seed trade list for details about this pumpkin
Back around 1910-20 it was common for a farmer in the Midwest area to raise pumpkins. Now those old timers, they grew “eatin punkins”. They mixed pumpkin seed in the corn planter as they planted their corn. The pumpkin vines shaded the ground and help hold down some of the weeds. They hand shucked their corn then sometimes they would load pumpkins onto a wagon with pitchforks. They would feed pumpkins to the livestock and the wife would make some of the best pumpkin pies the world has ever seen.
Now days, pumpkins are grown for the Halloween market. Or little bitty pumpkins for decoration. Sometimes someone will make a pie out of a Jack o’ lantern pumpkin or maybe a sugar pie pumpkin. It’s never as good as they remember great grandma making. That’s because they are growing a different type of pumpkin. The Kentucky Field is a canning pumpkin
