Since Christmas when I started "eating healthy" I only allow desserts on the weekends. Since it's Friday, it's time to start baking :) I love brownies and this recipe is sooo delicious, I know that they'll be gone by Monday.
"THE BROWNIES"
This recipe came from the Mass. General Hospital OVER 50 years ago. It's a delicious fudgy brownie.
1/2 cup shortening (I use margarine or spread)
4 eggs
1 lb. confectionary sugar
4 squares melted chocolate (cooled)
1 3/4 cups sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts (I use walnuts)
Cream shortening, eggs and sugar together.
Add rest of ingredients.
Mix well.
Pour into a greased and lightly floured 9 x 13 or thereabouts pan.
Bake in 350 F oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
