Did anyone else get the kind of storms that we got yesterday? We had huge hail (baseball and softball size) that went on for more than 30 minutes. Here is a pic of our pool. DH just drained it last weekend to get it ready for the summer. Cars and roofs are destroyed! I can't imagine all the $$$$ insurance companies are going to be out for this one.
Aftermath...Ugh!!!
Wow, Brinda. Hail that size can do a lot of damage.
We just saw pictures on the national news and I couldn't believe it. Oklahoma looked like it had just received a few inches of snow. The pictures were from the air. Hope everything is okay there. Illinois got hit pretty hard with tornados. I have to quit complaining about our weather.
LOL Shirley! I heard about the tornados in Illinois, that sounded horrible. We had so much hail here that it was 2 feet deep in some places. My neighbors still had it on the north side of their house this morning and the storm was at 4pm yesterday. I'm so thankful that the kids were all home from school and everyone is safe.
Pretty scary! Sounds terrible. I can't believe it was so big and did that kind of damage!
Oh Brinda, how scarey! I have a sister who lives in Moore,Oka.
Boy you guys have had some terrible storms!I'm glad you and your family were safe!
Bonnie
I heard about that on the news. Glad that you all are OK.
Hope your damage wasn't to severe
Brinda,I am sorry, glad you are OK!
Glad everyone is OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh Brinda, that is terrible! I am glad you all are ok! Everything else can be replaced, did you lose anything? Plant wise?
Oh thanks everyone! I lost all the plants that were outside, but luckily I had moved all the brugs in the house that morning! Whew!!! (And Tracey, I have 4 buds getting ready to open on the L'Amour you sent! Yeah!!!!) I would have cried if the brugs got it! Everything in the ground looks like shredded lettuce! LOL All the cars are damaged and probably totaled, and the roofs too! Oh well, it will all be ok! The liner can be replaced and so can everything else. We have more storms today and I think they are moving your way Tracey....be ready! Have a great day everyone!
We've had big storms three days in a row, with another two days to go before they completely move on. The worst one for me was on Wednesday, the tornado siren went off for hours. I never did go to the basement, I watched the weathermen on tv, and could see that the worst of the storm was passing to the south of me. We got hail (nickel size) and lots of wind, but the worst damage was in other places.
I lost about a dozen brugmansia branches, mostly on (yearling) seedlings that haven't bloomed yet. I tagged all of them that I could figure out where they came from and have them in water. I didn't want to throw the pieces away when they are so close to blooming. What if that one is THE ONE? I also have some of my baby seedlings out there, and they look like they were shot with a machine gun. It's only shredded leaves, it's only shredded leaves, it's only shredded leaves.........Ok, I'm all right now.
My sister Julie had a dead tree in her backyard that lost a big chunk of it in the storm. She's especially upset because it landed on one of her hosta beds, and her garden is on a tour next month with the hosta club.
We have watched it on TV last night. It looked horrible. I am glad, that everyone is ok!
How horrible for so many people...I am glad that you guys are all OK...I lived in OH when the Zenia tornado's came through, back in '74 or so...so much damage it looked like a war zone afterwards. We had those golf ball size hailstones also that did a lot of damage. Scary! I hope it is over for awhile at least!
