because of the straight spines? Some of the heads on this thing were pretty large, much larger than I have ever seen M geminispina... compressa is an extremely variable species... though so is geminispina... but I have never seen a geminispina with this much green before, either. What are your suspicions based upon?

The overall look of the plant just looks different when sitting side by side all the other M. compressa's on the page.
Specifically, The tubercles are placed tighter together on yours compared to the other M. compressa's.
Also, The amount of white wool is far more abundant on M. geminispina, as is your photo.
I understand that the central spine(s) on the M. geminispina is variable, but your photo isn't a close-up for me to count them.
