Where can I get larger brugs?

Dayton, OR(Zone 7b)

I would like to try growing some brugs for my daughter's wedding July 10. I like the looks of Charles Grimaldi, Dr suess, and throw in a nice pink one! Any ideas where I can purchase some with some growth on them so they possibly might be in bloom by the wedding date?

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

I can drop ship some to you, but I do not think you would want to pay the price. The cost to ship would be just too much.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

You are so right, Larry. The shipping prices are terrible and they don't care how bad they handle the packages. Some of my packages look like they jumped up and down on them and kicked them every step of the way. My mail carrier always tells me "I knew this was yours when I seen the condition of the box." LOL I think the postal service hates me.

Willacoochee, GA(Zone 8b)

shame your in oregon... I've got alot of 6-10footers I'd let go for $20 if you were in the area....

Time to delay the wedding. LOL!! Wouldn't it be great to have brugs at an evening wedding.........

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

It sure would. If I could make them bloom on demand, I would go into business renting them for weddings and reception. As it is now, I could not promise a particular color or even a bloom at a specific time far enough in advance.

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

ytcat, I don't know about your area, maybe somebody who lives in that area can chime in, but here brugs don't bloom too well in the hot summer, hardly any blooms in July, if any at all.

Really??!! I thought they would bloom all summer, if fed and watered, huh? I guess I misunderstood. Drats!!!! SherryLike

Hummer_Nut, you've got a great idea there but if you value your beautiful plants, think of all the people who like to admire plants by taking a flower, leaf, cutting. You'd have to be their body guard. Then there is the liability issue. Aren't they supposed to be toxic if eaten, touched and not handwashing?? Sounds like a dream wedding I would worry about the guests. LOL! I've been to weddings where the tables have been striped from their nice centerpieces within a half hour of the reception starting. Its pethatic but it happens.

Sherry, I have blooms in July. I think it depends on the part of the country you live in. Here is Butterfly and the picture was taken July 2nd, last year. It didn't have tons of blooms, but several because I set 7 pods on her.

Gemila, while they are poisonous, you don't need to worry about touching them and forgetting to wash your hands. If that were true,I would have been dead long ago.Think of them like Azaleas,Oleander etc.Handling won't hurt you, eating them might.

Shoot, Shirley, without knowing, I'd bet we won't get July blooms in Arky - but, I wonder if Larry does. If so, I might and I cannot wait to see!!! SherryLike

That was the first bloom that came right at the Y. You should have seen her in October. Oh my gosh, she was loaded. This was cold weather and after our first frost, so she didn't have good color. The poor thing had been dragged from the back yard to the front garage, and out to this area, but at least I got to see her bloom well, even if it was pale compared to summer color.

Shirley, Butterfly is still one of my favorite ones, right up there with Rosamond & L'amour. My Isabella bloomed in the GH over the winter and it's color was to die for. Another forgotten brug that I like.

Hey Shirley, you can put my cot right there in the middle!

TLynn, good to see you back. Can't wait to see you again in June. Hope things are better for you.

Tracey,I was up at Shirleys at this time,it was so nice to be able to see so many side by side and be able to compare scents and blooms,Great picture Shirley.

Gemila, the only way I would lease them to anyone would be with a signed release form protecting me from any liability and a deposit to cover any damage.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Larry, it would be hard to beat Butterfly for her color, her shape, and her fragrance. An all around good brug.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Wow at all those blooms, Shirley.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Shirley, your pictures are gorgeous. What is the brug with the huge blooms next to the Butterfly?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Sylvia, that is Creamsickle.
