Keep going. We enjoy your posts and pictures.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Enjoyed all your pictures and posts, Larry! Your garden surely is growing. I cannot believe you get Herr. Garten to bloom as well as you do! That is just great. In two years, nearly three years, I have had only one bloom, and that was in the greenhouse and I bumped it and knocked it off!! Lots of pods, but no blooms. I call it "Little Bloomless".

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

You are on a role, keep it up. This is what we come here for.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

When I just logged on I was shocked! LOL. But how great. I just love pics. Do not wait till next month to come back.

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

Kell, have you made it back home? I have a couple of crosses from Calla with Kell's Girlie Girl. Hope they are as nice as your namesake.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

NO, I am in NJ still. I am waiting on a package of brugs Brugie mailed for my Mom. She will be in pink this summer! Thanks again Shirley!!!!

I have only seen one flower from Kell's Girlie Girl last year. Can't wait for alot this year. Isn't Susie the best?

I will look forward to your seedling pics, Larry!

Now that I've seen one, how do I go about growing them on my own plants??? I'm sure this is an old thread and if there is a link, I'd love to have it. TIA! SherryLike

Larry, keep on posting and I'll keep on drooling. LOL

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Oh no...I just read Sherry's post...and thought, of course they just grow on the plant...then I thought oh, no...I guess I wasn't supposed to remove the spent bloom then was I ??? It is a brand new plant though and I would really like it to put out the next bloom instead of spending it's energy forming a pod....was my thinking right?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

They will only form pods if critters or you pollinate them with pollen from another brug. It's pretty early here for the critters, so I think you are safe no matter what you chose to do. I usually pollinate as early in the season as I can so the pods have time to mature before I have to take the plants in or cut them into pieces.

Shirley, my most blessed guru, and mentor, in the highest esteem, posted: They will only form pods if critters or you pollinate them with pollen from another brug.

Okay, spit it out, Shirley, LOL. What kind of critters do I have to import and, if I cannot rent or buy some, how do *I* go about pollinating, the nearest brug is 25 miles away and not blooming??? Surely the critters aren't hummingbirds, butterflies or bees, huh??? I do have an abundance of all three right now...but first I guess I will need two plants blooming at the same time and I only have one, but another should be right behind this one. This is more fun all the time! Thanks, Shirley. Gosh, I'm excited!!!!! SLike

Edited to add that you can save pollen. It has a long lifespan from what I understand.

Sherry, I can send you some pollen if you want to give it a try. Send me your address and I'll get some in tomorrow's mail. You are talking about the peach colored one, right?

Yes, Shirley and I would LOVE the pollen, but all of you will have to walk me though it, okay??!!!!

Hi, Kaufmann (I'm so sorry I cannot remember your first name!!!)
Thank you ever so much for the pollenating link. I'm not exactly sure what I saw, but I will watch again and hopefully figure it out. All of you guys are sooooooooooo nice & helpful. I will be forever grateful for your assistance!!! SherryLikeTheWine

Sherry, in a few weeks, you'll be a pro at pollinating.LOL

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

SherryLike: I myself, just learned recently - thanks to that link. Basically, you take the pollen (the dusty stuff) from the anthers, and paint or apply them to the mouth of the stigma. Here's a picture that might be helpful:

PS: Its Gretchen :)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Remember that the pollen on the bloom you are working with won't work. You have to get pollen from another plant. This is with brugs anyway and doesn't include the sang and arborea family.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Oooooh, thanks soooooo much Gretchen for the pollenating site, I have put it in my favorites, wow, you guys are nice!!!!

Ahelm - thanks for the encouragement, I'm green as grass!!!

Sherry, we were all green as grass at one time. You'll get the hang of it real quick.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

SherryLike, I haven't really looked at the page Gretchen gave you but this is the page I learned from and it is short and easy. Calalily put this together for us. There are other pages of different brug subjects on this site that are simple yet very informative.

Larry, all your post were wonderful and I am glad that you took the time to do it. I really enjoy seeing what everyone else is doing. You have really accomplished quite a bit with your brugs and even though it is very time consuming growing them, I know that you get enjoyment out of them. Continue to share photos with us . . we have missed you not being here.

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

Thanks Frannie, will be good to see you again in June at the beach. I plan on having a few special plants for everyone.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Thanks for the site Kell, I need all the help I can get!! However, I do have 'almost' four of the most beautiful orange or peach or apricot blossoms ever!!! They did not smell as much as I would have liked but we are having rain. SherryLike

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Sherry, walk outside about dark time and they will smell so good.
