'Georgenpalais' I was going to toss this one, but some of you told me I should grow it this summer and see what I think after it blooms. The bloom in the picture was one of two or three and they all opened in the house after our frost last fall. So, this one is now on the deck getting a taste of outside weather. I hope she/he is pretty.
Keep or not to keep...
Brugie, Looks very pretty to me...is it 2 shades? rose and white? it is kind of hard to tell on the picture. How does it look in person?
You are most fortunate you kept that one, Shirley, it's lovely...
It looks dark there. Is it blooming in your house now? That is cool.
I can't tell you for sure what it is going to be, but last fall it was dark with a whitish throat. It wasn't beautiful when I saw it last year, but I'm not fond of brugs with short tendrils. If it doesn't make me happy this summer, it will be making a trip to Wisconsin.
I think it's pretty.
Thanks. Ada, are you working too hard? I haven't seen you here much and hope you aren't over doing it. We got over an inch of much needed rain today, so I've just played in the greenhouse and on the computer. Bet things are really looking nice at your place.
Kell, it is a full sized plant, but far from blooming. It is just hardening off now, so it will be a while.
Shirley, I've been working as hard as I can go. LOL My ISP has been down and when I come in ast night I nearly go crazy not being able to get on here. LOL
Well, we miss you when you are gone. Hope everything keeps working okay for you.
It's nice to be missed. LOL I've been on the phone with my ISP both days and they said they sent someone out today but I haven't seen anyone. Me thinks they lie. LOL
It seems to have a nice color.
It's a suaveolens Shirley? A Patrice Drekmann hybrid? I seem to remember it from a few years ago.
The color is very pretty, Just let me know when you are going to arrive here in Wisconsin and I'll bake some blueberry scones and put on a pot of tea =)
Really Ada, I missed you also!
Brugie, I would like to also see some of your brugs make a trip here to Texas, too....LOL
Brugie, I think your brug has beautiful coloring :)
I agree with others.. It's pretty color!
Shirley, I am hoping mine will bloom this yr. I really like it. I like the color, but I'm partial to deep pinks. If you must get rid of it, send it my way. I think I need more?@#$#$#@#!@#@!
I love the color!
Thanks Everyone. I'll see what it does and if it doesn't have any problems, I'll probably share it. I've learned that I can't keep everything, but I do have several special brugs that I will keep, making the house and garage a little crowded once again.
ok,I am officially signed up with Dave's Garden.I will be asking you all dumb questions before you know it.I went through 4 more bags of pro mix tonight.seem to have about 50 plants.may trash 10 of them that are not doing much if they do not exhibit the will to grow soon.I know what half of them are,the rest are still a guess.Shirley, thank you for getting me started growing these.by the way,are there any twelve step programs to help me stop if it gets out of hand?
Welcome mailman. You're not Shirley's mailman are you?
Hi Mailman! You should not thank Shirley, you should kill her! You will be broke soon but full of flowers! LOL
Lucky for you you have a brug expert right on your route!
NO way out now, but at least you are amongst fellow addicts.
WELCOME!
Hi Mailman, forget it!!!
My Husband is still searching for the 12 step program for me...
Welcome home......
I just went thru 5 of the large PRO-MIX bags. I also amend it with pine bark soil conditioner and mushroom compost to double the amount I have to work with. I also mix slow release fertilizer in it and depending on what I'm planting I add a little "Hare-Doo". I agree with Kell, don't thank her, kill her, I'll never have any extra money now that I have a "Brug Forest". If it does not rain much this summer, I'm going to have to have a well dug at the tune of $4.000.00, but in the long run that will be cheaper than paying a $300.00 a month water bill. Hope I have made your day!!!!??????!!!!?????? I really would not change a thing................lol
Oh no, don't kill Shirley. LOL but she did get you started on a BIG adiction. These plants are so addicting and the blooms are intoxicating. You'll never turn back from them. LOL
Well, it is about time you got here. Been waiting for a while to get this guy hooked up at Daves. He is a great guy and I've known him or his family for many, many years. In fact, his mom was one of my grade school teachers, but let's now discuss how many years ago that was. Phil, don't worry about the "dumb" questions. There aren't any. All are good and we have all asked them before. Hope you are finding some threads to read up on. I don't know if you have found it yet or not, but if you click on a poster's name, you can get to all the threads they have started. Try clicking on Monika's name. You think you are in trouble now, just wait until after you see her brugs. Talk to you later.... probably today. I'm expecting packages again!!
Hi Mailman, Welcome to your addiction ..... LOL
What ever you do , do not go to the Plants Database and type in one simple word BRUGMANSIA . You will never be the same. " Be afraid .... Be verrrry afraid "
=)

Hallo mailman! Welcome to Davesgarden. We will do everything to get you addicted LOL
Brugie,
next time you think of tossing one, let us know. We'll be like the single ladies at a wedding waiting for the bride to toss the bouquet. LOL!
Gemila
Hi Gemila,
Generally I am pretty generous with my brugs, so in the future, when I have cuttings, you are welcome to some of them. This one is still up in the air as to whether I'll keep or toss, but if it goes out the window, I'll let you know. Welcome to Daves. I see you are pretty new to the garden. Here's hoping you will come back and visit with us often.
Geez Scoot, I looked at your picture and thought it was a fryhing pan full of frogs. ICK!!
Hi Gemila! Welcome to Dave's also!
Kell, they used to say the hearing was the first thing to go, but maybe they were wrong. LOL!!
In my case Brugie, it was my mind. whooshhhhhhhhhh left a while ago! Sometimes I feel like I am thinking thru quick sand.
Welcome Mailman.......you have joined a very addictive site! On the plus side your mailman will now be kept busy carrying strange and wonderful packages to your house. ;)
Hey, when we get older, we have a good excuse for not remembering. It is due us just for making it as far as we have. LOL!
Welcome Mailman and Gemila ... glad to have you here with us.
Thank you all for the warm welcome. I've been lurking and having fun reading all your posts. I actually made it my mission to find a brug or two for my mom who's been wanting one for so long and I've already got her a few from a great Ebay seller. I've potted them up and am letting them grow till Mother's Day. I've got a cutting of B. Frosty Pink in a trade and hope to later get a cutting from my moms plants. So far I've got her a B. Frosty Pink, B. Guity, B. apricot moonflower, B. Sunray & B. Golden Lady. From viewing all your beautiful pictures makes me want more of my own. I'm learning alot in order to help my mom too. She doesn't have access to the internet so I look up all the info for her. Thank you all again, you've all been very helpful and its been fun reading all your posts.
Gemila
Brugie, I forgot to mention that I lived in Creston, IA for a year and then moved to Ft. Madison before moving back to Indiana. I still miss Ft. Madison. We passed thru Chariton a few times, nice area.
Gemila
Wow, my son and daughter-in-law live in Creston. If you ever get back this way, let me know. I'm usually home taking care of plants. LOL! Would love to have you visit.
