llily was it you that we encouraged in the chat to post this? Now I feel bad. I am thinking you haven't got any responses only because noone has any. Perhaps if this thread bumps to the top again, someone who has it will see it. :)

Yes, it was me and now I'm wondering if I have the name right! Might have been Tom Hayden instead of Joe!

Oh well, I did try!

lily, why don't you do a search in the plants database (type in "begonia") and see if you come up with any other names for it. I didn't find any Haydens.

I checked it out and the name is Joe Hayden. It is a rhizomatus begonia with fuzzy deep olive leaves that look black and can get to 3 ft tall. The underside of the leaf is burgundy and the flowers are pink.

I can get this at glasshouse Works but didn't want to have to spend almost 20.00. Minimum order is $10.00 then must add shipping. Oh well if you want something bad enough... Mother's Day is pretty soon!

Just go for it! Call it an "I've been good" gift to yourself. ;)

Do you have a picture?
I have one that almost fits that discription.....

we just might be on something here!............ is there somewhere online you can paste the link for us?

There is a picture of it on the bottom of this page. I don't think it is a great picture, but it does give the general idea.

I saw this at the Rhieman Gardens Butterfly house this last Jan. and fell in love with it.
