Grape arbor plans

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

My husband must have a Concord grape arbor. It's about the only thing on our property that he wants to claim as his own. Well, we need some plans for a fairly simple but attractive one. We will probably put a bench under it. Can anyone guide me to a good site? I did a google search but gave up after I looked at so many huge, fancy, expensive ones........

Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

what we did was make a frame with 4x4's , 2x6's and 2x4's then used the plastic latice on top. we have it built off our porch to help block the sun. sorry i do not have a picture of it. if i remember tomorrow i will take one.

How big an arbor are you talking?
When we were thinking about building ours, I did a google search for arbor plans and founds lots of ideas. We sorted through the various pictures and plans and finally just designed one ourselves that was VERY simple to build. Took us less than 4 hours to build.....granted it's small.
Oh and the grapes are flowering and if we're luck produce for us this year. :-)

Woodspirit1 take a look at your local public library....I know the one I work at has a number of books with plans for very nice looking arbors at a reasonable cost. You can also look at Amazon.com for the titles and if the library doesn't have the ones you want they can interlibrary loan them in for you.

Woodspirit, you didn't say how big, or small. We got 2 of these at Big Lots (two different times) It's very simple to put together (my dh will tell ya that lol), it's sturdy and the vines will love it. (This one has sky vine, passiflora, small trumpet type vines, white and purple.) It's definately strong enough. This one has been in for just less than a year.

The other one is newer, 2 weeks old and the queens wreath I'm growing, isn't tall enough yet.

Here is a quick pic of the one we built. It's simple and small but looks great covered in grape vine.
(ours are just getting started for the year)
