Variegated Solomon's Seal 'Variegatum'
Polygonatum odoratum

I saw a similar plant listed as P. odoratum, but my label says this is P. falcatum. It is only about 14 to 16 inches tall, so I think falcatum is correct. A great plant.

What a great plant. How large are the blooms?

Thanks, Hazel. The blooms are about 3/4 to 1 inch long, and 1/4 inch in diameter. They are attractive, but the bloom period is not too long, so the foliage is the reason for growing the plant. I have not had any insect problems and there are lots of snails and slugs around them...preferring to eat the hostas, I guess.
We are finally getting a little rain!

The underneath leaf color, the variegation and the purple bloom stems add a lot of interest. I see a blooming bleeding heart to the right. These plants next to them makes a perfect combination. Are the leaves just variegated near the edges? These sure add a tropical flavor to your garden. I am so glad you finally have received some rain.

Yes, this should have been called 'Marginata' because the white is just on the edges. I will try to post a picture from the top later on. It and the bleeding heart are both trying to push the other out of the way, and I divided them last fall!
I am busy now planting, both at home and publicly. Spent all day yesterday in town buying and planting for my garden club.
Of course, I ended up buying a whole lot more plants for me as well. I found the 'Winky Series' mixed colors columbines and got one that I hope is blue...it had finished blooming and only had some withered petals on it. The one you posted was gorgeous.

I have been busy in the yard too. A gentleman I met has ebcouraged me to root cuttings and pot divisions because he belongs to a garden club that gives them away frre several times during the year. I do not have much space in which to put these, but I am trying to help him out. The bloom on this columbine is outstanding. I am glad that you found one to go with your other beautiful columbine.

I have many colors and types of columbines...sort of a weakness. The Beidermeir strain is nice, lots of blooms that are sort of upfacing, although not too large. I bought one pot of that which actually had 5 different seedlings in it, so I have several colors.
