Is there other fish with it about the same size, and what is your water temp.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Not sure about the actual temperature, but warm enough I've been feeding them a week now.
No this is the last koi left they all jumped out while I was at work over the years, the rest are big size gold fish, they all have been living together for years now,oh and there is 3 catfish in there as well ,also been there for years.
I noticed a little white foamy in the water as well.

Tropicman. Man I keep finding more and more interests we have in common. Man this is awesome, my biggest spring project is building a monster pond. Probably 10-15,000 gallons ideally, now we'll be able to do some water gardening/trading together. If you'd like some more Koi, please let me know via email. My buddy in OKC owns a statuary, pond and fish shop. Last fall, he set me up w/ a ton of incredible pond eqipment he had bought for his pond and didn't have time to mess with. I bet he gave me 2K$ worth of pumps, filtration, fountain heads, false rocks and on and on. Best of all, its all cost me the price of 1 pool pump I bought wholesale via him. I bought the biggest 110v pump made!LOL I need to lay it all out and begin digging asap. I want 2 ponds connected/seperated by a big creek that will step down into a few smaller pools, marsh like and bog areas. If you need anything, please let me know. I can drop it off to you on my way home from OKC and it would cost wholesale prices at the most. I'm also building some ozone generators and sterilizer's for ponds right now. It would be just as easy to build 2 at the same time rather than just 1 for me.
Well enough rambling on that.
I think your pond water is warm enough for your koi to start doing their mating thrashing about IMO. Man they sure can tear some stuff up. I'm building seperate pockets around/in my ponds so the fish won't be able to get to them.(knock on wood)
Well I just saw your name on this post and had to jump in.
Talk w/ Ya later

Hey Jeff,
I'll keep that in mind,I have just such a small deck pond, don't need to much.
Thanks

My guess is that your koi is a female and is trying to spawn even without a male in there. She doesn't care about the male particularily, she just wants those eggs out of her. Some will reabsorb the eggs and other will thrash around and cause the bubbles that you saw.

Hope this helps you.

Well even the big goldfish were thrashing around too,now all of them act like there to tired even to swim, they stay still alot now,in one place.
Thanks Ponditis
