She might need a little help. Looks like the cold kinda froze her skirt together a bit.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Better get her some bobby socks next year to keep her warm!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

That happened to my brugs last fall. I had not seen much bloom all summer because of the heat, I guess and then in the fall, just about a week before peak bloom time, it frosted hard. All the leaves turned black, but several of the blooms ended up making me a little happy anyway.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

So sorry to hear that, does the heat detour them from setting buds?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Some of them had set buds, but they wouldn't grow. I had a Charles Grimaldi that had buds on it for six week, tiny ones, and they didn't grow one little bit until it cooled off. I only saw that brug bloom once last year.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Where you feeding them heavy?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Just the normal routine and when it got so hot I couldn't stand it, I fertilized less.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

The plant looks very good. Brugmansias dont like to hot temperatures. They quit growing. I had the same problem last year as Brugie.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Monika,do they just quit growing or just stop putting on new blooms?

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

They quit growing and blooming. Brugmansias love moderate temperatures and a high humidity.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Gee Brugie, tell me again why you stay in Iowa.

Funny Kell.....Some day...

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Kell for the excellant field corn, when I was a kid,and it was nice and milky,I'd eat it right of the stalk raw,yum yum!!!
Sticky but yummy!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I've eaten a lot of field corn in my life. At the right time, it is just as good as sweet corn.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Oh its better, and a heck of lot bigger too!!!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

I'm a big field corn fan too but nothing beats the sweet corn we got fresh from the field in Michigan one summer. I was truly amazed at the sweetness.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I bought sweetcorn last summer to put in the freezer. It was called "Incredible" and it really was. It was so deep, sweet, and crunchy. I hope the same man will be selling it again this summer. I bought a little seed to plant, but it never tastes as good as that planted out in the fields.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

DH plants a whole garden of #NK199, it is the best corn we have ever tasted. Have grown it for 20 yrs. or more.

You're killing me here, I dearly love corn and tomatoes!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh yes, fresh corn and tomatoes and a pan of fried okra is better than steak. LOL

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Try some pan fried cabbage in some bacon grease!!!!!
Your in hog haven for sure!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Oh yes, and toss in some onions, peppers, shredded carrot, squash, just about anything you can find in the garden and it is wonderful. I've put fresh tomato and corn in my fried cabbage too. Love it!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I grew up on Jersey corn and tomatoes! I loved fresh, just picked corn, but about a year a friend said to me that corn is what they feed cattle to fatten them up. Stopped me in my tracks. Now I only buy it for my bird. But I sure haven' t lost any weight! LOL

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

We had corn on the cob for supper tonight. I think it was the last of it from the freezer. Can't wait for the fresh stuff. I'm going to have to give up some brug space in the garden and raise a little myself this year.
