French Lavender (UK), Spanish Lavender (US)
Lavandula stoechas

2-yr old 'Hidcote' from container. In rich soil so it has sprawled a little.

A beautiful plant, and it's grown so well in two years.

It seems to me that it's flowers look more like
Lavandula stoechas (French or Spanish lavender) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lavandula_stoechas
rather then more compact and less showy flowers of
Lavandula angustifolia (English lavender) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lavandula_angustifolia.
This reference seems to support the observation http://www.mountainvalleygrowers.com/lavendercareandtips.htm
With so many lavender varieties identification can be tricky.

I agree, this is not 'Hidcote'.

I believe I was asked previously if I minded having the photo moved, and I agreed to it. Home Depot continues to label these plants as "Hidcote" but they're obviously L. stoechas. Thank you!
