My dd turned me on to this site last wk and gave me a subsc as a present. I've been sampling forums and just found this one. Hurrah. I'm totally zonally challenged - the range in temps is better than a hundred degrees from win to sum and I love English country gardens. Just beginning to learn how to use less thirsty plants for the same effect. High Cntry Gard is much help.
You all seem like friendly folk and this is the first web org I've joined.
Hey lake Erie, I've got Arches and Canyonlands Nat Parks for my back yard.
Hi from Utah
Looks like I'm the first one to welcome you to DG! This is a wonderful place with lots of friendly, helpful people and a few crackpots..hee hee... you know who you are and she'll find out soon enough! Kidding aside, welcome and enjoy the garden!
Love your garden name BloomsWithaView, and let me be the second to welcome you to the friendliest garden spot on the Internet. Sounds like your DD needs to step forward for a pretty little bow also for the introduction. You will find many wonderfully talented gardeners in your zone, ready, willing and able to assist you in whatever knowledge you seek. Welcome aboard, you are among friends here.

Crackpots?! Did you ring, Kooger? =D
Hi, BWV - nice to meet you! DG is a home away from home for both my husband and me, and we love photography, too.
Welcome to Daves from another Iowa member. Hope you are finding everything you are looking for and then some. This is a great place. Will see you around the forums.
WELCOME! I would love to see your view there....maybe someday! Jo
Thanks folks! My other hobby is driving all over the south west, do love the desert tho' it's hard to garden in. BWV

Hi Tish, welcome to the best garden on the web. The people are friendly and the informatioon and advice priceless.
Looking forward to seeing more of you around the garden
WOOOHOOOOH! Glad to see another Utahn has joined the forum! I hope you've been enjoying yourself here, and I'm so glad your DD signed you up.
Moab is a great place, so beautiful! Last summer I went with my DH and 3 kids for the first time!! I've lived here 11 years and it took me that long to get down there, although we go to Zion's almost every year.
I'm about 3 hours north of you (2 hours if my husband is driving!), near Provo. It gets hot here too (surprisingly hotter than my SoCal home) just not as hot as where you are, of course. But I've had great success with some xeriscape plants, and I'm always looking for "natives" to grow in my quasi-cottage garden. Hope this site helps you and I hope you're not shy about posting some of your pix! I read from your daughter that you are a pro photographer? Am I remembering correctly? If so, I guess you'd be limited as to which pictures you'd want to share on the site. Anyway, glad you're here, and have fun!

You can always have them watermarked automatically, or watermark them yourself before uploading. I'd love to see your photographs!
been busy in my garden, getting it ready so just now have chance to welcome you to daves garden. enjoy it
Ooooooooh nooooooo! I think I scared her away! :O
Hello BWV and welcome to DG.
I live in Huntington Beach, CA. which is very close to your DD. I just welcomed her also.
I hope you enjoy your stay here and we "love" pictures, so post away.
Donna
Hi Clairelise!
Don't think you scared Blooms away, she's just been busy getting her car packed for the drive back to Moab. Then, with most ready and the yesterday afternoon to kick back and relax, -- and we did have things to look up on the PDB, too -- my DSL was down for >24 hours (lovely). So she's on the road, now, with no Internet road or weather checks -- fortunately when I did get back on (15 minutes after she pulled out, naturally), there is no weather between here & there and only one slow spot on the freeway within Riverside County.

Welcome!
Welcome to DG from your neighbor up north! Feel your way around the forums and jump in the discussions whenever you want to add something or just make a joke. Most of all have fun! Lani
Welcome from another neighbor on the dry side of Oregon. I live about 100 miles from the Idaho border and Ponditis.
Thanx everyone. Home Safe with scads of pics - some not bad. And, No, Clairelise I'm not a pro and there aren't enuff pixels in my pics to make them worth 'stealing' go ahead and show 'em around. If I ever sell something you can say "Knew her When"
here's one with the sun going down across a wash in the Mohave Nat'l Whatever in eastern California just before the border with Nevada. There were lots of different kinds of flowers and I'll post a couple. Blooms here
Okay, this is last post for the night. It's an attempt to live up to the View part of the Blooms. It was taken at the Sand Island Launch area of the San Juan River below Bluff, Utah.
Now I'm at home and the weeds are giant strides ahead of me. More pics at Photos when I've sorted thru. Blooms. and thanks for the welcomes.
Gorgeous shots Blooms! I love that area anyway for visits and your pics sure bring it back to mind. Thanks.
We have orange mallow here in a few areas. Very pretty for a longgggggg time. I tried some in my garden but it didn't like the water I used and didn't make it for long. Someday I will try it again in a dryer spot.
Love the pics! Glad you got home safely, and hopefully the weeds won't prove too daunting for you before summer comes. I imagine it's starting to get hot down there already.
Anyway, glad you've joined our little cyber garden, and hope to see you around.
Claire
