A few of my Brugmansia Trees

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Here are a few of my Brugmansia Trees, waiting to be placed in the Summer Greenhouse.
On one of them I found a wet rot right above the soil level. Tomorrow, 'surgery' will be done to save the patient. I will make pictures of it.
Anouschka is doing well. The 'surgery' has been successful. Callous tissue is already growing.

Wow, big trees for such little pots!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Those look great. I'd be embarassed to show you mine!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I am with Poppy on this, too embarrassed,I wish I could get the straight trunk!I guess if I grew them 25 years I may have figured that out!LOL!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

They look great, but what a lot of work getting them out. I know because I did mine a few days ago.

I have two that have nice straight trunks, but one of them is growing out instead of up. Straight out. Very strange looking so I'll have to do some surgery before putting it in the hole. I prefer it grow up. The Rosamond that Kell sent me will be a nice straight tree as will Mountain Treasure. The seedlings should grow nice and straight too. Time will tell. Monika, don't work to hard.

Mesilla Park, NM

Oh my gosh, they are beautiful. They make me jealous.. alot.. lol.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Are they staying out or are they going back in?

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Wow! Very impressive Monika! They sure look pretty (to me) :o)
I will be anxious to see your pics of "the surgery" Im glad Anouschka is doing well. Thats so amazing to me.

Washington, PA(Zone 6b)

Those are cool!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Looking good Monika. When do they go in the ground? I'll bet that is a huge chore in itself.

Orange Park, FL(Zone 8b)

Looks wonderful :) it would be nice to visit!

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Gosh, I'm so embarrassed to tell you that I've been, like a hawk, watching a couple of tiny buds. Mercy me, Monika, you have a forrest in pots!! Wow, I'm impressed!!!! Congrats, I cannot wait to see them in bloom, thank you so much for the photos!!!! SherryLike

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

SherryLike, have you seen the threads of Monika's Alley trees?
It is incredible. Some of them are 15 years old.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Wow, Monika. I know you get a workout moving those big brugs. LOL

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

They are going back in CC and have to stay in the Greenhouse until the May 20th. This is our last frost date.

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

Monika, what a grand exhibition! You are an inspiration to me;
being in my sixties, I REALLY hope to see results in 15 years! I thought I had all my pots ready to plant, but they seem to be drying out too fast; I don't want to have to water every day of my life -- so I'll add some more mulch first.
This is Garden Week in Va, so I must get cuttings this morning for some big time arrangements.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I hate to have to water everything everyday also Polly. My potted brugs get planted in the heaviest soil I can mix. Then I just am really careful about watering until the roots fill out. By the end of the summer the roots have completely filled the pots. My in ground ones can go days with no water.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Monika, beautiful trees, but such a job moving in and out. I have 3 or 4 in 2 gal. pots that are about 5 feet tall , that I am moving in and out, hopefully our weather will be staying warm enough for them to stay outside in a couple of weeks.

Pollyg. I've got you beat by few years will be 68 on my birthday in June, and i too am still hoping to see several brug trees bloom. Donna

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Pollyg, tried to make myself younger, will be 78 on my birthday. Guess it is showing, ha Donna

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Good for you Donna! Brugs keep you young! I bet you will see lot of brugs bloom. 5 foot brugs in 2 gallon pots will keep you busy watering.

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

rutholive -- To thine own self be true! No one else could ever have known!
I decided to add some Moisture Mizer - 1 TBL to a gallon of soil mixture, around the roots. The Rosemond is in a 24 in Pot, the E.P is in an 18in. Both have been planted with various bulbs, and I'll add some annuals when I see the bulbs (pk Caladium,Jap Iris) to continue my patio scheme.
It's above 80 out there!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

What is Moisture Mizer?

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Mouth dropped opened in awe of Brug Trees!? The cuttings so generously donated to me last year are maybe a third of that size ~ more like a short tree :)

I sure am excited about getting these into the ground, though!

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

My brug trees were probably 7 or 8 feet tall last summer, and they were only a year old. I think they have grown some over winter, those puppies are sure big. Can't wait to see how they bloom this year. They bloomed last summer too. Mine are "Whiskers".

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

Kell, Moisture Mizer is a non toxic granule that absorbs water and will moisturize a plant for a longer period of time. I'm planning on watering my pots every three days with its use.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Is it those crystal things you add to your soil that fill up with water and become jelly like? I have never had great luck with those.

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

Yes -- I never had luck using it with houseplants; they became overwatered. But the gigantic thirst of Brugs should take care of any overwatering!

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

I think Brugie has used those, and if I remember right, she said she didnt notice much difference in watering needs. Of course she is in Iowa where it has no problem of reaching a 950 degree temp. lol

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Boy Shelly, last year I would have believed that. I won't waste my time/money using the crystals. I think maybe for smaller plants in pots, they might work okay, but the brugs just take so much water that you would have to use a cup of the crystals for each brug, or maybe more, to notice any difference. Too expensive for me. I'm dragging those hose around anyway, so I can just water them.

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

Well, we'll see! As you can tell, I'm willing to try most anything, and since I was mixing my mulch and potting soil and filling eight big new pots, I tried it with three of them. The ones in the ground hold water well enough.
What color is A. Paja (sp), A gift plant I can't find in our data bank? And its habit?
Thanks for all your help.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

The color is cream to peach. It is robust and a heavy bloomer.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

The full name is Amarillo Paja...
