San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

This is the first brug that I have gotten & my friend did not know the name of it. It looks alot like Charisma to me...what do you think? The other 2 I have recieved cutting of have names, so I would like to be able to name this one also.
Thank you for any help you can give me. Margie

It's doubtful it's Charisma. 'Charisma' is a german hybrid... and prolly not available in the states. It might be 'Species' which has been around a long time. 'Knightii' & 'Enchanted Double White' are couple more. ... X candida double white is a generic name that venders use too.

Beautiful picture! It looks like it like sunny California :)

Poppysue...I just have her for about a month and am so glad to see a bloom! I will look up the other whites you suggested. Do you think it will open anymore or is this the way it will look when it is fully open?
Really...I NEED a book! I wrote to a gal someone suggested yesterday, but no response yet! Can you see I am not the most patient person in the world!!

Edited after ordering book...OK...I just ordered Monikas book from Mary's web-site!

I can't speak too much about the doubles... I have yet to get one to bloom here. I think the weather plays a big part in how thye open. Sometimes the skirts drop down more and sometimes they stay stuffed up inside the corolla tube.

Sounds like your hooked! If your plant is blooming already it should give you a summer full of blooms. You'll love it :o)

My other 2 are Charles Grimaldi and Arborea Peach –
I would like a nice pink...Two I saw and liked were Taylor Dawn and White Knight. They may just be from germany too, as I believe Monika is the hybridizer. Do any of her hybridized brugs sell in the states?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

There's an Arborea in Peach?????

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

The trader I got it from said that she got it from Wayside gardens as Arborea Peach. That is all I know about it. I think I will check out Wayside and see if they sell one!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Arborea Peach??? My ears are perked up,your Brug above is very nice!!!

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

rootdoctor...thank you
I checked out Wayside gardens and do not see any arborea peach!! Is there such a thing?? or not?? I wonder...anyone know??

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

It is prolly a peach but not arborea. Aborea is often mis-named. It might be a peach aurea or versicolor.

Taylor Dawn should be available in the states soon. It's still very new. Pink Beauty and Rosamond are a couple of good pinks that should be easier to find

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Nice picture. Whatever it is, I'm sure you will enjoy it a lot. Now, I do wish there was an arborea peach, but I think that one is a ways off yet. I'm glad you have the book coming. You will definitely keep this one by your chair for a reference book.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Brugie, Thank-you!
What does arborea mean anyway?? Is it a certain type or kind of brug? and also aurea or versicolor? I see those names a lot too.
Once I get my book, I will probably beable to get the definitions myself! Thanks for your help though.

This link might help. At the top of the gallery are the different species of brugs. You can click on the links and it takes you to a page with desciptions and photos. http://www.americanbrugmansia-daturasociety.org/brugmansia%20species.htm

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL. There never is a link that I seem to be able to pass on! So I had to go to ABADS and look once again! And I saw my pic of my arborea pod!

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Poppysue...thank you for the link...I can see I have a LOT to learn!! I think I will measure my flower and then at least get an idea of what group it may fall in ! And I will print out the chart...that will be a good start.

BTW...about how many days do the blossoms last for? I am getting so used to the daylilies for just one day, I am surprised and thrilled that it is still alive and well!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

It is a beautiful picture of a beautiful bloom but it is not Charisma. Charisma is not released yet.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Monika...I guess you answered that question for sure!
I also like Taylor Dawn and White Knight...are they released and will they be for sale in the US? I saw them on-line yesterday and I am not sure if it was on your web-site or another!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Taylor Dawn is available in the US because she was raised out of seeds, I had send.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Monika...do you sell brugs in the US?
Also I heard that there was an english translation to your web-site, so you know how I would go about getting it?
And yes, thank you for the compliment on the photo and brug! Margie

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Margie, the book with translation is available in the US but my website is not translated.
The hybrids pictured on the website are not available but I had and have send seeds in the past two years to the US and some of those seedlings are very nice.
I am sorry, that I was unable to help you to name this fine double. It is probably a US-hybrid.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Monika, I have your book and translation ordered through Mary's web-site.
I have a feeling if you were not able to help me with my white doubles name...probably no one can. Maybe I should just stop trying to find it out! Thank you for your assistance though.
Would Taylor Dawn be a pink you would recommend to me, being new to brugs or is there another one that you would recommend?

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Taylor Dawn would be a good choice because it is a pure B. x candida in first generation. These hybrids are very robust and willingly to bloom.
Pink Beauty or Rosamond are also excellent hybrids. They were bred by Mme Blin in France and are available in the US.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Thank you so much Monika...I will look into these three that you are recommending!
I love pink..so I am so happy to see that you will be posting many pinks this year!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

We all are looking forward to see what Monika comes up with this year!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

How long Monika before your plants start to bloom again? I will mark my calendar.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I expect the first seedlings to bloom in about two month.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

OK, middle of June it is. Marking my calendar. lol

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

I just marked mine....I'm excited to see them Monika!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I will keep you updated LOL!
