Pond liner vs. concrete

Olathe, KS(Zone 6a)

You guys now have me wondering if I want to try the concrete method instead. BTW, I saw many of you looking for a sealer/paint for your concrete. i use "Hydrolock" sealer, it can be tinted to any color like paint and is made for sealing basement walls from the inside. You may have seen the display for it at a hardware store, the cinder block w/ water flowing through it. 1 side is treated and not leaking and the other side is bare and water runs through it easily.
Anyhow, Can I get some pro's and con's for this comparison friends?
Thanks, JD

We have steep property and had to build a retaining wall. We used rock and concrete mortar. The bottom is lined with concrete and has had enough leaves and other junk in it to make it look natural. Of course, we dip some of that out from time to time. It was very hard to stop the mortar from leaking here and there. But the bottom seems fine. The water level is right up to the rock caps on the wall. So we don't have to deal with trying to cover up the lip of the plastic liner and make it look natural.

That wasn't a very good shot. I am posting 3 more. I don't know how to post all 3 in one reply.

this is the outside of the retaining wall. The hose has nothing to do with it, nor the electric cord. We are doing some more (!!) construction and watering plants in some lower terraces down the mountainside.

This was a tall raw bank where we dug the dirt and leveled the hill to put the patio and swing you see in the first pic. There are 2 waterfalls; the smaller waterfall is close to the pond and is hard to see.......
