Hello everyone,
I joined yesterday and am trying to get info already from PoppySue about how to make great stepping stones for my garden.
I live the small city of Pine Lake, GA near Stone Mountain. I have almost an acre of property of which at least one half is more or less still in the process of being renovated. I have a rather large slope that I hope to eventually terrace in some manner. Most of the property is semi-shade. I have a little creek that runs through it as well.
Hope to meet some of you very soon and get some inspiration from such wonderful gardeners.

Hey, welcome! We're having a get-together (called a Roundup) May 1st down between Atlanta and Macon. Why don't you join us and meet some of us face to face? We're really a friendly group!

Hi Laura, this would be a perfect way for you to meet a bunch of us at once! And get some nice free plants from Georgia as well. Don't worry if you don't have much to swap, we all bring extras.
BTW, I might have what you need. I have a steep slope myself and started to terrace using good old orange daylilies and purple Iris--later I started adding rock, and exchanging plants. Here's a pic of mine, 3 years old and still a work in process, don't look too close!
Hope you can come! Let us know :)

Thanks for the invite. I won't be able to make it May 1st because I have out of town plans already for that weekend. It sounds great. Hope to catch one of these in the future. The slope looks very similar to mine and that sounds like a good solution. I have thought about the landscape timbers stacked two deep and add soil to make beds to gradually get a terraced effect as well.
Your slope picture looks really nice. Here is a photo that shows the base of my slope and you can see that I have a lot of English Ivy also wisteria was allowed to go crazy over there as well. I am having a tree man get the stump and a tree that fell over out of the way. I hope to make some progress getting rid of the wisteria after that.
