Hope I am posting in the correct place. I got caladium from the co-op. One of the posts said that the best way to start them was in a bag of very damp (but not wet) spagum peat. I did this on Saturday. I looked at them today and they are covered in mold. What should I do?

Caladium HelpNow What?
My impulse would be to take them all out again, spread on newspaper, and let dry.
Then, pot up (are you potting them?) in regular soil mix.
I was going to pot them up until it was safe to put in the ground. Should I clean them up with anything?

I have done what you said. I will be using potting soil. It has a miracle grow type product in it. These are my questions: Should I toss the peat moss, or can it be reused, or just put in my compost pile? How long should I let them dry before I pot them up? I have 12 of each kind. How many to a 10 or 8 inch pot? How deep do I plant them, in the pot and outside? How big do they have to be to transplant outside? How do I tell which way is up? This last questsion is why I did the peat moss method in the first place. When they sprouted, you would know which way is up.
