ranunulus

does anyone have tips on how to plant ranunulus,
i live in va.
will they come up the same season the bulbs are planted?
do they winter over covered with mulch in zone 7?

Have the kids start them in potting soil in dixie cups and transplant the whole thing. I do not know if the over winter there. I have to take mine out because the corms rot if left in the ground. Same with anemones. Someone from your zone will be along I am sure.

You plant the roots with the finger looking part down and only when the soil is warm enough and you have to dig them up in the winter as they are not hardy in cold weather. You can also start them indoors but since I don't have the space for them to get full sun then I just wait until my last frost date.
