Sad story and a question

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

I heard on the news tonight that the KY Humane Society in Louisville had to euthanize all their cats because of an outbreak of a virus called Panleukopenia, aka Feline distemper. All of their outlying county sites where they've brought animals had to euthanize all of their cats also.

About 5 weeks ago, my daughter and I each adopted cats from the KY Humane Society. Mine is Cleo and hers is Raven. I posted a picture of Cleo trying to find a name for her :) on another forum.

I am concerned that our cats may have been exposed to this virus and I was wondering if anybody has knowledge of this virus and if Cleo or Raven could be suspect also.

I think I will call my vet in the morning anyhow, but I'm really sad about this. They have a wonderful humane society and it is very, very clean. I know these things happen, but they had so many beautiful cats, I found it hard to choose one and almost brought home more than that and it breaks my heart that they had to put every one down.

Thanks for your help. Kathy
