This is a new Sun coleus I got over the weekend in Chicago...I love the almost white edges..the undersides are deep pink too.Its a sport of an all pink form ..see both pics
Sun Coleus
Both are beautiful. Hope you had a good time on your mini trip.
Brugie..I got so many new plants...including so decorations for my tropical room.
Okay, where do I go to see pictures of this tropical room? Sounds interesting.
I am just now wallpapering it..will be a while before the pics are up..
You sure have been busy on the house. I'll bet it will look great when you are finished.
Those are both nice. Coleus are so hard to find down here. I got some when I went to see Tracey and will get more when I visit MS this summer, but here.......they have about three different kinds, all ugly ones!
Kyle, that one is gorgeous. What is it called?
Suzie, I have about seven different ones started. But none as pretty as Kyle's.
DRUUULLLLLLLL! Severe envy attack!!! I ordered 35 different Coleus from "Glasshouse Works" hopeing to get a true Pink one. Of course I could have just ordered the "pinkest ones", but you know how it is when the addiction/obsession sets in while you're on line. (LOL) My point is this....your's are the most beautiful pinks I've ever seen. Names please?
Pati
I'm not sure what they are..they weren't labeled at the greenhouse. Sorry.
I just found an awesome mailorder /online site for coleus.....
www.rosydawngardens.com they have a TON of varieties online.
Just went there and they do have lots of great looking coleus. I am placing my order tomorrow. I just cannot get over the variety and colors. Did you see the one called eclipse?
Wow, I love the ones called Pat Martin and Screaming Raspberry. Oh dear. Kyle I think I may have just got myself into trouble....I ordered ten of the coleus they have. The two above and El Brighto, Raspberry Ruffles, Trailing Rose, Christmas Candy, Trailing Plum Brocade, Kingswood Carnival, Black Magic, and Red Coat. So, if any of you get different ones, we can do some sharing later if you want to.
Brugie, you have email.
Right back at you..........8 hours later. LOL!
Got it!
Kyle, those are great. How are coleus to start from seed?
I havent seen any in Turkey and wondered if I could take some seeds back and start them there?
I especially love the lime green, the real dark ones etc.
are there any types that are easier from seed than others?
Kyle, I look forward to seeing your photos of your new tropical room.
Pebble..coleus are easy from seeds, but not as good a growers as the sun tolerant forms.Thompson and Morgan sell several kinds.......if you can't find seeds there where you are let me know I could find some locally and send them to you.:-)
Thanks Kyle, I'll try to find some here in the US, if I cant find them I'll let you know, thanks for the offer! :)
Ok Kyle & Brugie...I know it must say somewhere, maybe I'm not reading enough fine print. But how do I tell if they are sun tolerant or not? I'm in love with many of them! Geez, DH is going to die when he sees what the mailman will be bringing! LOL
Brinda seed grown need some shade..most kinds sold individually in catalogs are usually sun types.
Kyle...thanks for the update! :)
I'm still confused. Won't coleus grow in the shade too?
The plants are leggier and less colorful in shade.
Kyle, beautiful coleus.
I just got my coleus from www.rosydawngardens.com this morning and they were nice and well rooted. I have them potted and they are looking for the sun to shine. It's pretty crumby here today.
I got mine today too, but have not had a chance yet to pot them up. They are sitting in water, waiting. They look really really good. I think that was a good place to buy. I especially love the ones that are colored like I have never seen, with a peachy color. All of them are great.
