Does anyone have the name of a good watermark program? Having people use my photos on ebay to sell their brugs!!!! I used one program but it keeps locking up on me.
Watermark program
Barbara, you are talking about a visible copyright mark, right? Like in this picture. Because they do have digital watermarking programs, but it isn't visible. With the digital watermarking program, you also have a means to scan the internet for your pictures to see if people are using them, but it is expensive. If you just want to put a visible copyright mark on your pictures, I use Fireworks 4 for that, I also have Paint Shop Pro 6 and Adobe Photoshop 7.0 if you are interested in any of those programs.
Mary, yes I am talking about visible copyright mark. I have Adobe photoshop Elements 2.0. But can't figure out how to use it for copyright marks. Will check on Fireworks 4. Don't want to spend a lot of money. I tried a shareware but it had to many bugs and kept locking my computer up.
Barb, you can use Irfanview for adding a copyright also. Very easy and free.
You can also disable the right click for copying and you could post the picture off ebay with a link to the picture, perhaps on your website. Then there are a combination of tools you can use...You can use an alternate pic method that when they right click the copy mode is disbaled and that helps to prevent them from getting either one.
For an example go here...
http://www.birdieblessingsdoves.com/PhotoAlbumpg2.html rest your cursor over the pic then try to copy it... move the curssor back and see what happens.
There really isn't a sure fired method of keeping them from stealing pics though.I checked into it because of my website and as Marynla says the programs that are availble are expensive, too.
Good luck,
Lottie
MsCritterKeeper: Even that was not a foolproof way of not downloading the picture of the dove. That little box that comes up with the floppy disk on it to copy a picture, I clicked on it and the photo went right to my desktop.
Well, at least you know that your pics are so great, they think it will sell their brugs, Barb.
Brugie, Infranview will let you do a transparent copyright mark?
Disabling right click really doesn't help much if anybody has any knowledge at all, they can just view the source code of the page and find the url of the image and pull it up directly in a browser and save it. There is really no fool proof way to prevent people from copying your images. On my Ebay pages, I use an html encoder program that encodes the html and also disables right click, so they can't right click and copy the photos, and they can't view the source to see the URL of the photos. If they wanted it really bad, though, all they have to do is do a screen capture with a program capable of that, and they have it, so try as much as we can, we cannot completely prevent people from copying our images. I now put a real big copyright mark right over the flower in my pictures, kinda makes the picture not so attractive, but at least maybe then they won't even try to copy them.
Another method is to make your brug photo the background image of a table cell (this cell has to be the same size as the image), then put a transparent image the same size as the brug photo in that cell, that way when they right click and save the photo, they are saving the transparent image, not the brug photo. They won't know it, though, until they try to look at the photo they saved and it will be blank.
Barb, email me, I can send you any of these programs I have if you are interested.

You are so nice Mary and so smart!
Here's a link that will give you some more information on various techniques & programs you can use from a professional site about image protection. It has some free scripts & other info you might find helpful.

Debby, Thanks for letting me know about the dove photo.
I did know my method was not fool proof...it was just another option. Posting the copyright info & watermarking photos are only ways to keep honest folks honest..it really does nothing for the thieves of the world. It does give the person with the copyright some legal avenues . I could be wrong but I do believe copyright infringment is a felony offense?
Good Luck Bward and keep us posted.

LOL Brugie, I enlarged your photo to see your mark and then was looking at your brug so hard I forgot to notice the copy right. That is one dark pink brug. I just love ForeverMorr!
Thanks Kell. I hope she does well this year.
She will. She is a winner!
Just wanted to keep this one up where Barb would see it.

Brugie: love the watermark, really nifty looking. I need to work more with photoshop. It is so overwhelming. I don't even have it installed on this new computer and it is almost a year old.LOL..
Deb, you better get to work. Before long it will be way out of date. LOL!! I'm lucky to have my girls who are both experts on computers, to help me.
Great picture of ForeverMorr, Shirley. She's a beauty. Can't wait to see more pictures this summer.
I love FM . . . such a beauty. Shirley, I have Paint Shop Pro 7. Could you please send me directions on how to put a watermark on a picture. There is no hurry on this. Thanks
