Lemon Verbena Propagation

Has anybody successfully propagated Lemon Verbena? I manage it sometimes but not others via cuttings.

try mallet cuttings.

if you insist on tip cuts, make sure the basal end is semi-woody. If woody, try scratching or razoring the woody end... I find your molars can do a fine job as well.

Thanks Deep Roots

What's a Mallet cutting?

Willacoochee, GA(Zone 8b)

k
imagin a stem going slightly horizontal... now a lateral shoot develops off the node and goes skyward...
cut the entire node off with the young shoot. looks like a mallet? it works well with alot of hard to root woodies.

Several weeks ago, I received a Lemon Verbena that I had ordered online. It looked like a dead, bare stick, but I planted it anyway. I've been caring for it, but it still looks like a dead stick in a pot. The seller told me to wait another four weeks, as the plant was dormant.

I don't know of anything that goes dormant here in Louisiana, and so am unfamiliar with this phenomena. Does it really take weeks and weeks for a dormant plant to bud out? Or am I nursing a dead stick? LOL.

Ahh thanks Deep Roots we call them node cuttings here.

Sweetpea

Scratch the bark slightly with a fingernail, near the base, if there is a hint of green beneath it's alive. They can have a long dormancy but not all will be deciduous but some are, it may be that your plant has come from further north and is aclimatising.

Baa, Thanks for the thread. I've had some tip cuttings root in Fall, only to die soon. I LOVE the smell of crushed lemon verbena leaves!
