Hi Cindy. Welcome to Daves. Hope that fire was contained. A house full of smoke doesn't smell very good. Looking forward to getting to know you.

North Port, FL(Zone 9a)

thanks everyone for the great WELCOME....

GInger...North Port is on the gulf coast....its near Venice..its getting to be one of the most popular towns....hopefully within a yr we will have our own hospital....

the gardening here is quite different from what i am used to back in ny....but i love it...im starting from scratch again...the people that bought my house told me that i couldn't take any of my plants :-( that they wanted them...my gfriend had called me crying that they dug everything up and threw everything away....i was devastated...she saved all she could and is going to plant in her gardens.....so, now i am starting from scratch...thanks goodness the house came with a few hibiscus plants, and ive started planting some canna and calla lilies and snapdragons and gerbera daisies...have a long wayyyyyy to go....i can't believe i couldn't bring my gardens with me..... :-(

the fire was a brush fire 2 blocks over....everything is so dry here right now that the littlest thing can start a fire
i worry a little, because i have woods in back of me and on one side.....not a real developed area yet :-) and there are kids that go in there at night, but the police are canvassing all the time around here....especially at night...

I love all kinds of flowers...im doing mainly perennials...

more later....hubby just came home...lol

luv yas all

hi there Lilyfan and Karrie,

thanks for the nice WELCOME.....i was very happy to see that the fires were contained....

we got some much needed rain last night and today....heavy duty thunderstorms here....very windy also....looked outside this morning and my swing and table were overturned in the back yard and its not hurricane season yet....YIKES!!!...

but at least i don't have to water....my neighbors will be happy about this...im allowed to water everyday until the end of May, because im a new development.....and my lawn and flowers are flourishing right now, and i know it bothers a few people, but, i have permission so ive been doing it....

again thanks for the welcome and looking forward to geting to know you...

luv cindy
