Howdy Y'all:
I'm new to these here parts and wanted to mosey on up and introduce myself...I don't really speak this way, but I am a newbie to Dave's.
Me and my family (DH, 2 sons & 2 dogs who are convinced they're my other 2 sons) live in Dallas and we've recently finished renovating a home. We completely destroyed what little landscaping existed before the renovation so we now have a huge landscaping project ahead of us now.
This is my first decent size yard to garden in and I'm very excited even though my gardening skills are VERY limited (and that's being overly generous). The large and empty yard is like a blank canvas. Although, it does have a backdrop of English Ivy (one of the reasons I bought the home) that has been growning for the past 65 years...it's everywhere and has even spread 15'-20' high into the very tall trees (but the trees don't seem to care as they are thriving). You wouldn't believe the thickness of the vines!
I look forward to meeting all of ya'll (OK, I speak like that a little bit) and learning from your years of experience.
Take care and I'll see you soon!
Tracey
HOWDEEEE From Texas!
Hi, Tracey...welcome, from another new kid. There's so much great info here, whatever your level of gardening skill. Anyway, my philosophy is, if you can figure out which end of the shovel means business, you're a gardener!

Howdy Tracey, so glad you've joined us in the garden. Won't be long and those from TX and similar zones will be giving you lots of ideas and encouragement. Take lots of pictures so you can share your progress with us.
Welcome to Daves, Tracey. I know you will enjoy your time in the forums. There are so many nice people willing to give of themselves to help out with our gardens. Sharing is a word you will see a lot here. Hope to meet you in some of the other forums real soon.

hope to see you here often..

Welcome to a really big garden! I think you will find lots of information here that will help you with your yard. You might want to check out the Landscaping forum, and also find other Texas gardeners. If you go to the page that has the member list and see the map, click on Texas, I think you will get a list. Hope that works for you, it has been a while since I was on that part of DG. Happy gardening.
What a great forum! I've been poking around for a few days now and everyone is incredibly nice here and I'm certainly glad to be a member.
MaryE: Thanks for the tip on finding other Texas gardners...didn't realize I could do that and it will be extremely handy.
Thank you everyone for stopping by and saying hello!
Tracey
Another Iowa welcome here ..... this is a great place to hang out!!!
Welcome, Tracey. I'm sure you'll have fun "cultivating" a few friends along the way!
Welcome from a fellow Texan Tracey. You will find DG to be a wonderful & addictive place. I have, and I love it! I am not even a novice level gardener LOL, but I am learning here as I am sure you will. The members of DG are spectacular. Friendly, sharing, thoughtful, caring, generous, people with enormous sense of humor. I hope you enjoy the time you spend with us. Look forward to seeing you in the forums. Kitty
Welcome, Tracey...What part of Dallas are you from? Hopefully we can visit one day since I live just east of Dallas.
Kris
Hi Kris -
We live in Lakewood which is East Dallas (near Mockingbird Lane and Skillman). Rowlett is great and booming these days...I'm sure you love it there!
