My Variegata is blooming...one little bloom. Love the fragrance, but its definitely not my favorite at this point...
one lonely bloom...
Ohhhhh, Gretchen I think it is sooo pretty. Is this the first time this one has bloomed for you?
Congrats......
Dee
I agree. The boom is a nonthriller!
It will get better. I like the bloom because it isn't huge and it is ruffled a bit. I think when you get a lot of blooms, you will like it more. I'm not a white bloom lover, but I really did like this one had it not been for the mites liking it better than I did.
I like the ruffly thing going on there.....
Dee: Thank you, and yes, this is the first bloom on this plant.
Kell: Took me a minute on your post LOL!
Brugie: Maybe you're right. I may like it better with more flowers. Right now it just looks a little odd...
CC: The ruffles are kind of pretty.
And, I do love the scent, it just pales in comparison to the big show that Frosty just put on for me...I ended up with five blooms on that one little cutting. The sixth is just opening tonight and more little buds are on it already!
I should alter my post to say that Gretchen's pic makes it look much better than it is! Or at least in my yard. I had no ruffles going on. It was a very plain Jane! And I am quite partial to whites!
Congrats Gretchen!!:-)
this one is a favourite here.
Gretchen, the buds were straight on mine. Each bloom will be better than the one before it until it blooms a good flush for you. It really is pretty. Maybe I see it that way because it is so much different than others. It is nice to see a white bloom on the variegated foliage too. I get tired of peach.
I had one ... I agree the mites loved it!!
I think it's pretty myself :)
LOL Gretchen...I had not noticed!
Well, I almost feel like I should change my opinion with all the rave reviews, but all last year when it would flower I would think to myself, God, what an ugly brug! LOL
The only reason it survived was it is in the ground, not in a pot so I would have to actively hate it to dig it up and also I had a sport on it I was trying to grow out.
Gretchen, did you get my email?
Most flowers will be that way Gretchen. It has never been a favorite of mine.
Frosty looks like it is afraid of the compost pile,it sure is putting out!!!
Frosty loves me, Root LOL! Thanks everyone! Guess that's what makes the world such an interesting place...
Kell: Was hung up in my spam filter. You have mail :)
I have another one loaded with buds: Pale Pink. Can't wait to see its blooms.
Hope everyone has a lovely, blessed evening!
Gretchen
You too Gretchen. Hope you got all the mulch taken care of today and that you aren't too worn out.
Thanks, Shirley. I'm pretty pooped. Worked in the garden from 6 - 11; Got the first load of mulch and worked spreading it from noon to 6:30. Was a loooooonnng day! Have about one third done. Hopefully I can get the rest done tomorrow if I really bust myself. I hope you didn't work too hard!
You better take it easy. There is a lot of gardening time left and we don't need you laid up. I did very little today. Baked cookies, fixed a roast with all the trimmings, and watered what plants needed it. Talked on the phone a lot. I don't think I can say that I worked hard today. It would have been a great day to plant, but with the cold weekend coming, I couldn't do that. I'm just in limbo, waiting on the right weather so I can get started. You will be basically finished when I begin, however, we are never finished when we grow flowers. LOL!
Gretchen, does your body ache like mine? LOL I've worked almost non stop for the past few days and my body is screaming but that's mostly from only sleeping less than three hours last night. Someone got my chargecard number and they were going wild with it. I'm so glad the bank caught it and called me. The closed down my account. Heck, I can charge enough on it, I don't need any help. LOL Seriously, it was scary when they called me. I still don't know what may come of it.
Gretchen it was a aphid magnet for me. I got rid of it quick.
I'm half way through the mulch I have. Lunch break...
Shirley: I know the feeling about being in limbo. I'm so anxious to get those brugs planted. Predicted to be 44 in San Antonio on Tuesday am. That equates to 36-38 here. Once that front passes through, it should be a go.
Ada: What a scare! Thank goodness they caught it! And yes, I am a little sore today. Have worked most of it out since I'm hard at it today. I've never had to spread this kind of mulch, this way, or this much at one time. My hands and wrists were so sore today from picking up the handfuls and hand spreading it around each plant. This is really a job I would have preferred to hire out, but alas I can't afford it, nor would I really trust someone around all my plants.
Donna: Brugie told me that its also a mite magnet. I've had a go round with the mites, but not on that plant, YET! I'm going to plant it away from the others and see what happens. I do get aphids from time to time because of all the Asclepias I grow. We'll see. It may not last. But, I do like the foliage...
Y'all have a great day - I'm back to the "salt mines" LOL
Reading your posts, Gretchen, make me so tired I don't have the energy to do any more planting today. I was just looking for an excuse anyway. LOL
That's a good one, Slyvia. LOL
Gretchen, it was scary and I still don't know what all it may end up being. I have a lot of plant orders out and I've had to e-mail all of them. I've sent Karutz two e-mails and they haven't responded. LOL I guess they'll know it's worthless if they try to add it to that Mastercard. LOL It was Brugie's fault I sent Karutz that last order. Maybe she'll loan me her card. LOL

Ada, Mike will get back to you sometime. They aren't real speedy there, but very nice people. It might be wise to call them so it doesn't set your order back. It takes them about six weeks sometimes to get their stuff out. My neighbor had the same thing happen to her a couple of years ago. They are like us and never carry a balance on the card, so it wasn't a big deal to get things stopped and re-started. I had my Discover card cancelled less than a year ago because they thought there was excessive activity on my card. I hated to tell her that it was just me on a buying spree at online nurseries. It was too late anyway...it was cancelled and I had finally got the numbers memorized. Now, I'm working on a new set of numbers and my memory isn't good.
LOL Brugie, I had my numbers down pat also. Now when they send my new card, I'll have to learn it. The lady went thru some of the charges and the only one I remember was 364 dollars for Alibaba. com. I had four boxes to come in today so maybe these folks got there's in before they canceled the card. I hope I e-mailed everyone about the canceled cards. LOL I've ordered so much lately, it's hard to keep up with it. I hate this happened just when I had so many things ordered. It'll be 7 to 10 working days before I get the new card. LOL I guess that put the brakes on my internet buying for now.
