Lady Banks White Rose 'Lady Banks Rose (1807; aka Evergreen Multiflora, White Lady Banks' rose, Rosier de Lady Banks)'
Rosa banksia alba

There are 5 to 10 blooms in a cluster and each has a petal count of between 30 to 50. It puts on a magnificent early to late spring show. It is not as cold hardy as the Yellow Lady Banks and suffers some damage at temperatures below 15 degrees. Shown in early April. (San Antonio, Tx.)

The full size picture shows how lovely the blooms are. I have to confess that in the past I did not like this plant...because I had to prune and shape a lot of it in a conservatory one week and it was very overgrown. But your pics of this one and the yellow one make it look very desirable.

If it has a large enough space in which to grow and do its own thing, it is very showy when in bloom and takes little care. Unfortunately a lot of people do not realize how large the plants gets. Then, it can become a real problem.

I guess that is why it frustrated me to prune it (they had it trained over a stucco doorway in the Mediterranean section of the conservatory) and there was soooo much I had to cut off.
Some plants look much better in their natural form to me. I let my forsythia go instead of hacking it back to a little ball or square. The flowers are not as dense, but I like it better.
The green on our roof is a tarp...we are replacing the roof very slowly...almost done now.

The forsythia in bloom sure looks great. I like my plants to grow in their natural form too. What a beautiful area in which you live with all of the tall trees.

Thanks, Hazel. Actually a lot of the trees are too tall and too close to the house, but I love the shade and the bird songs. Not too crazy about raking, cleaning gutters, and the sound of acorns hitting the metal roof for 2 weeks in the fall. The place looks better when everything leafs out...some are starting to green up now.

My main problem is with oak leaves in the spring. My plants are covered up by them and I have to unbury them in the flowerbeds and remove the leaves from all of my containers. My gutters need cleaned as well as my patio, but the only time the leaves have been somewhat dry was today and I didn't have time to do any yardwork. It is supposed to start raining again tonight and through Easter. Easter is supposed to be really chilly because a cold front is moving through. Last Easter was a chilly day also. I hope the rain holds off until later in the morning so I can at least cut my grass, edge, clean the gutters, etc. inbetween cleaning my house.

Send some of that rain to us, and we can both be happy! Actually we have been fortunate that it has been so dry since we are working on our roof. Hope you get some of your chores done, but don't let the work get in the way of having a good Easter!
