Culebra

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

I have had this one for about 3 years. Last year it really bloomed a lot and continued to bloom all winter in the greenhouse. It seems to take months and months to even produce lenticils.

Gorgeous photo Liz. One I want to try again. Had one and was doing really good and then it was a goner.

I want to try one again too...I kill all mine but they are usually tiny little cuttings,I'm waiting till I can afford a big sucker...LOL

Love that one, but I will not try again, I have lost 3 of them, some nice sized plants. Seemed spidermites just loved it and then, the least bit over watered from rains, got root rot.

Glad to see you have good luck with it!

I can't decide if I want this one or not. Before Dave's, I was desperate to have this one. Now I am not so desperate to have any! Maybe I am maturing?? LOL

So this one is a difficult one to grow I take it? That pic sure makes it desirable. Who sells a big hunk just in case lust comes back, CC?? LOL

Love Culebra, but it was too much to deal with for a few blooms. Your plant looks so elegant. I lost my first one from a tiny cutting. The second one came to me rooted and it grew well and bloomed six nice blooms. The mites loved it and it was always dropping leaves because of them. I gave mine to Kyle because I didn't want to deal with it. I'm thinking that my problem was that I didn't have enough brug experience at that time to grow that particular brug. I wouldn't hesitate to try it again now, especially with the cabinet full of insecticides that I have on hand now.

Liz, your plant is beautiful. Seeing yours makes me want to take very good care of mine (from Gloria). I know that it does not like too much water and I will keep an eye out for spider mites. I will try and keep it washed every week to discourage any mites that might find it appealing. I have Avid so if I see any, they won't be there for long. Mine is extra special and I would be thrilled if it grew up like yours.

I like the look of this one, maybe when I get a little more experience under my belt,I will try one,how is the scent on it?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Liz, it's beautiful! Mine was doing great but now it looks like it just hanging on by a thread. Are you pollinating those blooms?

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

I just got a small one from a friend in Florida. I hope it does good for me.

This doesn't get any different treatment than the others. I find it likes the same things that the other aurea types do. One thing I haven't done is let it go dormant ever. It sits up on a table in the gh to keep it off the cold floor and it only gets watered when it starts to droop.

Gosh! This is such an interesting bloom! Very pretty!

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

Mine is doing great and blooming, but I haven't taken any pics of the blooms because I wasn't impressed with them, they don't open nicely like yours did. The petals all hang in the same direction, instead of turning opposite each other to open up. I'll get a pic later.

Last year, I gave mine away. It was definitely the last time, I gave it a try. It is too cold here for Culebra.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Liz, you have the brug touch also!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I think thats how I kill mine...too cold...if and when I get another one I will keep it in the house and not the GH

as for where to get one....I figure If I cough up enough cash ...someone will take pity on me.....LOL

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Beautiful Liz. Hope mine turns out as pretty as yours
