I forgot to mention in my previous post that I have a tropical ginger that I cut back last year because if was taking over the yard. I'm sure it needs to be fed - do gingers require a certain kind of food? Thanks.
Do tropical gingers require a certain kind of food?
Hi Cattknap,
I grow gingers. I always kind of think of them as "no fuss" plants for me..they do so well with little care.
Almost all gingers like soil that is rich in organic matter and well drained. You can feed your gingers in early spring with a slow release 2-1-2 ratio or with 12-6-6 with minor nutrients and then feed again in mid-summer.
Gingers are my most favorite tropical plants!
