I'm sure this is a little slice of heaven - people as crazy about gardening as me! Am newly married but here's the real challenge - have an acre in the high desert that's been sorely neglected (husband does not garden and it looks like the previos owners of this home didn't either). Extreme heat in the day, cold at night. HELP!

Welcome judytim, to the friendliest garden spot on the Internet. You will find others with similar gardening challenges, and they will be happy to share their gardening tips with you. I'm confident you'll have your new home transformed into an oasis in no time. Take lots of "Before & After" pictures and share them with us here in the Garden.

Welcome Judy. Hope you enjoy your stay at Daves. I've learned so much and made so many good friends since being here, that I can't even tell you how good it makes one feel. Where else could you have so much fun for $15 a year. LOL!! Hope to meet you soon. Also hope you find solutions to your growing in the high desert. Sounds like a challenge that you can handle.

Welcome judytim, this is the best garden on the web. You are going to love it here. Can't wait to see the transformation of your high desert garden.
Welcome Judy!
I have a friend who lives just off Horsethief Canyon road who has the exact same temperature fluxation that you have. I will have to see what solutions she has come up with.
Will ask her next time she emails me.
Hi Judy and welcome to DG and our great garden family. I live down the big hill from you in Orange County. There is another member here that lives in your area and she is very knowledgeable about what can grow in your area. Her name is MaVie and I hope she pops in here to say hello.
