then how are we suppose to handle the bulb type flowers that we buy now at Easter time. Can I just plant them now or should I let them die in the pot and then wait to plant them in the fall ?

What are you planning to do with them? Re-plant the summer-fall blooming flowers in the pots where you have spring blooming flowers? If your daffs and tulips, etc are done blooming, then you should be able to put some summer bulbs in amonst them. That way, you will have two "yields" from your pots.

If your plan is to empty out the pots, and put the spring blooming plants elsewhere, you may want to wait til the foliage begins to die off, or transplant them to a cheaper, plastic pot for the summer.

Thanks ladyrowan,
I am going to empty the pots so I will let them die back first .
