oh drat!

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

I had a really nice set of 6 seedling dat vines I grew from seed indoors. Put them out last weekend, and I think the sun scorched the poor babies.

drat! Will they survive? Is there an easier way to start again other than starting new seeds indoors? Does anybody even sell these vines?

Phoooey!

Dat Vine? I am wondering if your plant was misstagged?
Do you mean Moonflower vine?

I think Root is right Jenn. What did your seed package say? I'm thinking your seed pkg might have said moonflower vine? Did you seeds look like pepper seeds or shelled peanuts? Sorry for all the questions, but we can give you better info if you answer them. You may be able to move them out of direct sun and salvage them.

I'm just going off the hand-labelled seed packet that was given to me. shelled peanuts best describes them.

they weren't incredibly big , so I'm not sure about trying to move them again...

phooey

If they looked like little peanuts, you actually had moonflower vine, which I have seen sold under a couple of different names-Calonycion, Ipomea alba, etc. People often confuse moonflower vine, moonflower plant, moonflower bush, etc but usually it is just two different night blooming plants with large white flowers. LOL Those seeds are easy enough to find or if you have more, go ahead and poke them, soak them and sow them. The wonderful evening scent makes them well worth growing!

Did the leaves on yours turn white or turn to mush or what? You may be able to save them. How long were they outside before they got damaged? Usually the sun will turn them white or dry them up while the cold will turn them to mush.

the stems went white and kind of mushy.

damage occurred within the first 24 hours of planting.

I like to let my stuff sit in the shade a couple of days and then in the sun a little before I plant in the ground. It sure helps keep the vines and plants looking good. Oh, I try to avoid high winds when I first take them out too.

No apology needed here,we love to help, and I bet someone still will know what to do,I gotta start my seeds,so I am glad you reminded me!

Are you sure they didn't freeze? Either way I'd start over if the stem is mush.
