I have the strangest thing going on in my yard. I recently planted 6 brugs in a new bew and placed the plastic name stakes right near the base of the plants. Over the past 3-4 days when I get home from work, i've been finding the tags are gone! Something is lifting them out of the ground and scattering them all over my yard.
I don't know if it's a bird,a squirrel or one of my cats. So far I haven't seen anything moving them but something is. I'm off Sunday and will sit and wait for the tagbandit to snatch them again.
tag snatchers
LOL! Sounds like you may need to tie the tags to plants before you end up with a garden of no-names.
Maybe it's birds. This time of year they're looking for nesting material. I got "stringed" a couple of years ago. http://davesgarden.com/t/288521/
Sue,
Whatever is moving them is just throwing them around the yard and not actually taking them away. It could very well be one of my 2 cats but I don't see any teeth marks on them. Both cats do play in and around that bed so maybe the tags look like play things to them.
If you were around here I would guess Crows. Especially this time of year, they will pick up something interesting take it somewhere to inspect it , then eat or discard the object. I feed the crows and get to observe them quite a bit.
Maybe you should try the vinyl slip tags as backup?
I was just going to say it maybe birds...my peacocks pull my tags constantly and even the chickens do it
If it was around here I would say kids. You have any near you? They seem to love pulling them up.
What is a new bew David?
I am missing tags also on some of my seedlings David, but in my case I think I know the culprit........ and when I catch that 50 year old ding bat of a woman, I will let her have it good! LOL
new bew = new bed. Kell, I'm glad to know you have one of those old ding bats in your yard too. LOL!
David, that's the Brug ghost that's doing it. LOL I hope you find out what's doing it or you're going to have to tie them to the Brugs or have a bunch of no names.
Gosh Brugie, I think that my old dingbat had left the garden and was the one reading that new bew! LOL. If I ever catch her impersonating me, I am really going to give it to her!
The old brain synapses just do not synapse so great anymore!
Hey, I have one of those old dingbats in my yard too, and sometimes she follows me in the house, because she is getting battier every day. LOL
Thank you all for giving me a much needed chuckle today! Actually, now its the giggles.............
Our dingbat is 60 yrs. old, DH has a BB gun if she gets too far off her rocker!
You girls are a riot. You must not be as tired as I am. LOL I had to lug all those Brugs back into the greenhouse and garage today. We have a freeze warning. Darn is it never going to warm up and stay warm? This lugging plants back and forth is getting old.
ahelms, I'm with you, I am getting tired of moving those pots from the passage way into the garage. I think I'll take a chance tonight and leave them out. Got ot 65 today and is still at 6:30 55 degrees. Tomaorrow supposed to reach 70 which actually is warmer than I like it. My apricots are in full bloom and the cherries are showing white. We can still have very cold weather. Donna
Ruth, I hope you don't have as many to lug back and forth as I do. LOL
So David ??? Ya think you might have Trolls in yer garden ?
Donna,I sure wish I lived near you,I'd help haul those plants out!
Root, I wish you lived near me. LOL I sure need some help to lug the Brugs in and out. LOL Ada
Maybe,I could make a spring and fall circuit around the country, hauling out Brugs!LOL!!! The weather would always be crisp!
....and your pockets would always be stuffed full, Root!
