Abutilon X suntense (Blue Flowering Maple)

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I overwintered this plant and it is looking very healthy but is one long stalk now ~ 3 feet. Should I cut the top off. How much? Can the removed part be rooted and how? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Cut the top off and send it to me. LOL. You should be able to cut the top off below a node and it should root. You might want to cut several 6 - 8 inch pieces and root them. They should root easily in damp sand.

I would love to Larry but I have a feeling the State's Customs might frown on it. :( I'm sure you have many, many plants I would love to try! Unfortunately Canada Customs is equally as difficult. :((

Thank you for the instructions...I was hoping it would branch out more on it's own but looks like I will have to give it a hand.

Hummer-nut....cut it off how far down from the leaves at the top? Will the part left with the roots but no leaves emerge with leaves/branches?

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

I love Abutilons, they are a great plant for us. Left in the ground all winter, they bloom almost non-stop. This one I had to prop up with a stick, it had so many blooms in it, it was falling over.
