Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

The peaguineas 3 are no more. I had Kyle help me kill them during his lunch hour yesterday. They had really become an irritation to me and I had wanted them gone for a long time. All I had to do was shut the door when they went into the birdhouse yesterday while he was home for lunch. I got their mother out so she wouldn't see us killing them. He actually caught them, I held them by the legs and he handled the axe. I cooked one in the roaster oven after marinating it in Sangreia for a while. I cooked a large chicken breast for Holly in the same pan because she doesn't care for dark meat. That is all there was on these birds. Kyle and I surmise they may taste a bit like pheasant. I'm never eaten pheasant but considering the cross we think it might be that way.

It is really getting cold here again. It's suppose to be at freezing or below tonight and maybe the next night. No wind to speak of and no more rain in sight tho. The sun is shining right now.

Holly(our DIL)has an old dog who is a ST.Bernard/Golden Lab cross. He is about 13 years old. He disappeared yesterday morning and we couldn't find him anywhere. I drove all over the roads last night when I came home from picking up the Caravan at the transmission shop and doing some shopping and getting a much needed haircut. Went to one neighbor who Holly thought would never have known about him and found out they are very familiar with the sight of Goliath and our little Beagle Darcy out hunting together all over the fields. He showed up at the door of their home this morning. Hungry, dirty, wet(the creek is full of very cold water), and seemingly none the worse for the long absence. He has been neutered for about 10 years I think so it isn't, or at least shouldn't be, the mating season calling him out. Darcy and Goliath are are quite a sight to watch out in the fields hunting rabbits which I don't think they ever catch. I think some of the rabbits around here look forward to the game.

I moved some plants yesterday. An azalea that didn't have good enough drainage and a hosta that a couple drain pipe got put over top of so I thought it might get too much water too. I sure hope they do better in their new places.

GOD bless each and all of you.
