I was wondering just how easy these guys are to take care of. A few friends and I have seen them and have lots of favorites we would like to get. I just want to make sure We have all the info we can before we try and buy some. There were a few people on e-bay selling them and didn't want to bid till we did our research.
Thanks everyone in advance
Tillandsia
There are Tillandsias (the ones called "Ball Moss", or "Air Plants") that require no care at all. At all!
Of course, it depends on the species. The pretty ones are (except for T. stricta) sensitive to certain temperatures and air humidity, others may require a certain altitude and sun light.
But, generally speaking, you donīt need to worry about soil and watering, since it absorbs water through the leaves, in most cases. They may grow on partial shade, hanging from a solid medium (bark bits, Tree Fern Fiber, or even rocks), with some air circulation that will bring the dust and humidity - that will feed them. No fertilizers are required.
T. cyanea is an exception, and this pretty preffers organic soil and regular watering, and some fertilizing, I guess (I have no experience with this plant).
thanks monocromatico. We will keep all that in mind before we get any of the air plants. Anyone else have any experience with these plants? Would like to hear any and all feedback one these.
I bought a bunch one year and killed all but one of them......but that one has a baby now and buds ...never seen one bloom.....
tht's what I'm afraid I'd do to them crestedchik. I will keep getting more info on them before I get one.
