Leaflady,
Thought I'd start the new thread you were talking about.
Mostly, I've been really busy like everyone else this time of year. We've had lots and lots of pouring rain. The creeks have been out and We've had to take alternate routes to work.
My two daughters from the St. Louis area were here at their sisters visiting this weekend. That daughter lives close, so my two Grandchildren were both together. My Granddaughter got new baby chickens and watching the my two-three year old Grandchildren be so very careful with those delicate babies made me smile. My Granddaughter gently cups her hand around them, while my Grandson holds his hand completely flat. I got in a little trouble with my daughters for letting them get a little "too" dirty. It was bound to happen.
I put my ponies and old mare on a dry lot so they won't founder on the green grass. It always makes me so sad to lock them up. Usually they have such freedom to run and play, but it's necessary.
My potatoes were planted in the mud yesterday. I tilled up some ground to let it dry and then it rained and rained again. My foot sank up to my ankle in mud and the potatoes will probably rot before they come up. I have plenty more to plant.
I have a steep south slope below the barn that is covered in thorn trees, buck brush, wild blackberries and small walnut trees. It has been an ongoing project to clear out the thorn trees and buck brush and liberate the walnut trees. The wild blackberries will stay as well. As soon as some of the trees come down the goats strip the branches. Hubby even brought down some fairly large pin oaks yesterday. When it dries up we will pull them out with the tractor, let them season for a year or two for firewood.
Think I'll go check out what's blooming this morning. Lots of daffodils and hyacinths.
