My first brug - any advice?

Orlando, FL(Zone 9b)

I bought a very pretty pink Brug in a gallon pot today. I plan on planting it tomorrow. Any advice on location, sun, watering fertilzing, etc.?

I live in Central Florida - Zone 9B.

I have never grown one before so any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Polar

Just to be safe, I'd plant it in a pot if you could so that if it gets too warm and the plant begins to wilt, you can move it to a more shady place. If you want to put it in the ground, I'd plant it where it gets some protection from the hottest sun during the day. They require quite a bit of water and will bloom best if fed regularly with a good fertilizer. You will need to watch for mites and other critters too. There are a lot of people here with a wealth of information on growing brugs, so come on back and join us often. I don't think a day goes by that I don't learn something.

Most of the property is partly sun so I think I will find a nice spot for it. It already has three blooms, I am so excited. Thanks for the advice!

Wow, do you have a digital camera? We love pictures here.

I think it needs batteries but I will try to get a picture tomorrow :)

Great. Will be waiting.

Hallo polar bear! Most Brugmansias love a place, which gives them protection from the hot midday sun. You should buy a good fertilizer with at least 14% Nitrate.

How exciting . . your first brug. I have a feeling that it will not be your last once you have the experience of growing it. It is always fun to see someone that is new to brugs. Be sure and post pictures of it.

Thanks for the advice! I will post some pictures as soon as I can get my camera to communicate with my computer. I think I have to reinstall the software and I can't find the disk. lol.

Now you are starting to sound like me. I think I finally have a system for disc storage....keep it in the box the equipment came with and hope no one cleans house for you.
