There is that leonotis that I love so much. Is purple another of your favorite colors. I love the purple tree in the background.

Wow Kell, you live in PARADISE! Just gorgeous!

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I love this photo. Keep them a coming, please Kell!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I remembered Kell had one in her brug garden, so I planted a leonotis. Mine is blooming, yippee!! Now if the brug would bloom I could have a Kell garden!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I have some baby Leo's growing from Kell's seed. Can't wait for them to bloom. This one is so much prettier than the other variety. I'd like to have one of the white ones too.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

They come in white?? Wow, another plant I might need.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I didn't know they came in white!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

I didn't know they came in any colors. I just had to go look up what a leonitis is. Your picture is gorgeous Kell.
edited because my typing is worse than my spelling.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I found them in white on a site a month or so ago. I didn't keep track of where the site was though.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Kell I have always loved that picture. But now I am mad I didn't know you had leo seeds. (pouting) :)

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Kartuz has them in white.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Kell, I know you told us before what the purple tree was, but I've forgotten. It is beautiful. Could you tell me again, and maybe my feeble brain will remember this time.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Gorgeous picture kell! It looks like a bot. garden to me!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Looks like a perfect place to just sit and relax. It won't be long Kell and everything will be beautiful again for you. I know that all of you are going to find this hard to believe . . lol, but I did not even know what a leonotis is. I should know better than go and look at pictures because I always have to fight my self control . . lol

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

And everything there is in pots!

So Brugie that link said you should cut back the lions ear all the way back at the end of winter. So should I?? Anyone know?

Sylvia, it is Solanum rantonnetii. It is in constant flower 10 months of the year. You can't beat it. Its natural shape is a big bush but I have one trained in a 7 big ball topiary, one as a tree and one as huge bush (a wall of purple) and another one that does not know what it is supposed to be and is a mess. My DH just pruned it way back and now it really will be confused.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kell, what you have to do to save them is totally different from here. Nothing lives over here unless I bring it in the house.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I know Brugie. You are such a determined gardener! You would go nuts here!

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

I'm absolutely amazed that everything is in pots! You have nothing growing in the ground? Unreal...

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh sure I do! LOL. But that is my court yard and all in pots!

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Gretchen, don't you just love that picture. You'd never know from looking at that everything was growing in pots. Everything looks so lush.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

I put a dozen Leonotis in the ground today, hope they are as pretty. The ones I grew last year were not so full.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Linda, there is more than one kind of leonotis. The more common one I believe is Leonotis Nepetifolia, common name Lion's Ear. Leonotis Leonurus, common name Lion's tail. I hope I don't have these two turned around. I have the Leonurus I think. To me the flower is much brighter on the Leonurus and velvety looking. I'll just have to grow what I have and see if I can tell the difference. In my reading, I saw that they benefit from being pruned. They will get bushy and not as tall. I'm going to try pruning this year since the wind is pretty hard on my tall plants here.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I'm just amazed every time I look at that photo. You must take very good care of your plants for them to do so well in pots.
I planted a solanum bush in the corner of one of my beds. I sure hope it gets as pretty as yours.
I have a question: If it never freezes here, do I just chop the leonotis back at the end of winter, even if its blooming?

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

The package says leonurus, we shall see. I'll try pinching them for a fuller plant, thanks.
