Heres a good one. Planted all kinds of snap seeds in mid feb; got a pretty decent germination rate - little guys were just starting to get second set of leaves when I went to Dallas. Came back - thought there were fewer but my memory has never been all that good. Days pass - I notice my snaps look more like grass - leaves are gone. Not just nibbled, pockmarked or misshapen - disappeared. More disappear each day - I am looking for an armed dictator. Finally I have only one with leaves and many stems. No evidence of any bug activity - used the magnifying glass.
Called my local greenhouse market garden expert lady who said it sounded like mice but I wouldn't have those in my foyer. (I sincerely hope not) Said if not mouse then sow bug. Actually saw one two days earlier - it is now pushing up daisies instead of munching my dragon babies. I mean really how many predators do I have to fight in one year.
Good news is I was too busy to empty the cell tray and replant until today and would you believe those little leafless stems are pretty much all putting out new leaves. More heart and work ethic in those plants than in those Oilers of ours.
