4 foot Tansy

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

I have a patch of Tansy I'm cleaning out to plant another Hibiscus. It's a perennial that grows 4 foot tall and loves sun. It will spread & cover an area easily if you want to use it for naturalizing. The blossums are clusters tiny yellow buttons. It blooms for me all summer if I cut it back after each blooming.

I'm looking for different Hosta, Bleeding Hearts or Columbines.
I can give you nice big roots. Trade, anyone?

Wanda - do you know how sturdy these are? Will they hold up under strong winds?

langbr, I live in central Missouri, heart of the tornado belt, and the tansy here in our yard does fine. If it gets bent over by wind it soon rights itself.

Did you know that tansy repels ants? I now raise tansy around the bases of trees to keep anys out of the trunks. We've lost a few trees to ants in the past years. The ants eat out the heart of the trunk. The tansy has also halted the stream of ants into our house.

The Tansy is VERY strong. I had a hail storm flatten a patch once. I broke it all off & it was back to full size in a couple of weeks.

Dont forget to mention its a nice antique plant with an heirloom history and a wonderful suger scented leaf!
