I have a bunch of these blooming. The seeds were given to me by Happenstance, and planted in early January in soiless seedling mixture. I had 100% germination! They are so fragrant.
Datura Tatula
When Gretchen stops posting, we will need to go look for her.
She has 72 of these little guys. Just like kids they will grow up and we probably will never find her. :-)
I have more seeds if anyone would like to beat Gretchen's record.
Oh, I really like this!
I love the bloom on this dat but I could never keep up with removing all the seed pods. It is a prolific bloomer, for sure.
I grow a pile of these once, and another cultivar 'inermis.
Both seed stock from JLH.
great plants, grown in municipal compost and reached 7ft and flowered.
I planted about 50 dat seeds in rockwool in January and only 4 germinated and they are only about 2 in. tall. I need you to teach me how to get those little boogers to grow.
Oh Sylvia! We'll have to figure this one out! I know you soaked yours, etc., because I remember us talking about that! Maybe the seeds weren't as fresh. I had really good germination rates with all my dats. These from Happenstance, and some others from Springsong. I have a few extra Dat Tats that I haven't planted. They are kind of leggy -- still in the 1X1X1.5 cell pack. Do you want them?
Gretchen, you are such a sweetie. Can't wait to meet you in person, which, hopefully, will be soon.
Sylvia, I planted a lot of dat seed from two kinds and I have yet to see one seed germinate. I did mine in soil. Don't usually have a problem with them, but these sure aren't doing well yet. I don't give up for a month or so, but it is getting late now to start more.
Soon, Sylvia! I have some seedlings with your name on them and will hold those dats for you too!
