Brugs New Home

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

While some were building greenhouses to keep their brugs & seedlings we were building a new deck on which hopefully they will love and want to show their stuff this summer. It is made out of mahogany and cedar ... love the smell of that wood.

Before and then after will follow

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Welcome back Shelly and congratulations.

Liz, I haven't taken a picture yet of the other side ... been waiting for the brick work to get done. Your right it is huge ... the wood came from out of Washington.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Deb, the deck is great and the view of the pond is something else. Gosh, I hope I have stuff that you can take back with you in May to help fill up some of the space. Jim made some square things out of scrap wood that I can sit plant pots on so they don't have to sit directly on the deck. They work, but our deck is old enough now that I don't care. I just sit the pots right on it. Tomorrow my job is to clean it and put a new coat of stain on it. Not looking forward to it at all. Tell Mike I need to see a picture of him out there enjoying the brugs next summer.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Thank You all for the nice comments. I can hardly wait. Tomorrow I will try and get a photo of the rest of it you all did not see ... just please excuse my yard as it is all torn up.

Shirley ... they are shipping the hibiscus out monday. Hope I do good with them... they are so pretty.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

You will do fine with them. If I can grow them, you can too. Just remember, they don't like temps below about 55 degrees and you will get along fine with them.

Rutholive ... the deck itself is mahogany and the railing is cedar, it came from Sound Cedar out of Washington. It was cheaper for us to have it hauled in then to buy it from the lumber company's around here. Mike found them on the net.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Do ya have any out on your new deck yet Deb??

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I have finally started moving a few out. Still waiting for the bricklayer to get finished so I can start planting and try to get my yard back in order. A couple days and he could be done ... just need him to show up!
