What is the lowest temperature you can have your Brugs in without protection? It's supposed to get down to 43 tonight and I have my Brugs outside. Will they be okay or should I move them back inside?
Lowest temperature
Well, I had them out in the covered, enclosed patio all winter and they survived the coldest temps of 39...I would think they will be fine at 45.
At this time of the year I think the cold won't last but a few hours and they will be fine. Save your back Ada. LOL!! I've gone through the moving in and out thing and finally I said the heck with it, freeze. That was the fall before last. Won't do it again just for a few blooms.
Thanks, Brugie. LOL My back thanks you too after moving all of them out today. I did move the versi's back into the greenhouse bit I'll move them back out tomorrow during the day..
Yep, that's a good safe temp. Mine didn't show distress at those temps at all.
Thanks, Patti. I'm sure glad to hear that.
Welcome dear lady :)
at 34 and below most of mine begin to show distress. I did have a few seedlings of Cala's that kept going even in the teens and darkness!
Patti, I hope the 34 degrees are a thing of the past until next year but probably not. LOL
Amen to that, Ada!
I am HOPING the same, having strange weather it seems.
So how did yours look this morning Ada, okay?
Patti, they looked okay but the weatherman lied. It got down to 39 last night. I nearly had a hissy fit when the weatherman said it got down to 39 this morning. LOL
ARGH...I HATE when that happens & it SEEMS to have happened ALOT these past 2 months. Can't count the times I lost buds.
I'm HAPPY it didn't go lower for you and all survived!!!
Me too, Patti. I sure won't depend on that weatherman anymore. LOL
Me either Ada, I decided to listen to my bones! LOL
I told Eyes that she could send my caladium bulbs because our temps were supposed to be in the forties and fifties at night and now the forecast has changed. Can't win.
Ada, I dont listen to the weather report anymore because all they tell us is the average temperature. It may drop on some places (like mine) way below it. In the spring, the plants have to be hardened up to be able to withstand low temperatures for a longer period.
Monika, I've decided the weathermen just guess and if they hit it right, they are lucky. LOL
